Stats for different characters different?

I may be being a bit thick here but I have searched and can not find a answer.

My main character is lv60 and my alt is lv60. One is a Betazoid TAC Star Fleet and the other a Reman ENG Romulan.

I was looking at getting the new hyper capacitor shield on the exchange but on my star fleet account the shield says 12,000 hit points, on my Romulan character is says 9,200. Both shields are the same with 4xCap. This is odd am I missing something here???

Well, different ships have different shield modifiers. Sci ships have significantly stronger shield multipliers than escorts, for example.

It also might be something to do with your Shield Systems skill points, if they are different on each toon.

Different ships have different shield modifiers, so the same shield will have accordingly different strengths depending on what ship it's equipped to.

I dint think that mattered being that it was on the exchange, I took off all my traits etc and my spec points are pretty much the same that effect shields on both characters too

The game knows what your current ship is, and adjusts for it.
