The Nebula-configured Odyssey needs to be a thing.
I had to go with Beta... It looks like a cruiser which means that it should compliment the lack of maneuverability with fighters. The size also means that it should be able to carry 2 bays instead of the one that barely fits on the escorts.
Cryptic seriously get rid of the dorky quad nacelle design with two large nacelles and two mini nacelles.. it looks like little useless arms on a T-rex..

My thoughts exactly. And, of course.. this looks like another Heavy Escort or medium cruiser design contest, not a full blown carrier/dreadnaught that the Feds are lacking.
Then again, Klingons (followed by Rommies) are getting very little love these days, if ever.

Beta - because the fishtail looks like it has room for enough shuttlecraft to evacuate a small moon. "We're Starfleet, and we're here to help." #NewDawn
Beta seems to be killing it on the Facebook page so maybe my pessimism is misplaced?
Every time someone calls Alpha sleek, I feel the need to break something. Alpha's a greebly mess. What's with that split saucer? Why are its nacelles different sizes? Why is that top set so far back on the ship? God, it's a graceless ugly little brick. You people wouldn't know sleek if an SR-71 rolled over you very slowly.
I also noticed a much larger preference for BETA on Facebook or Social Media as well, so I'm confused as to why there is such a difference in the forum?

Hopefully enough of a larger preference to make up the 20% difference here and take the win.
Theta is the only one with a hull that even appears large enough to be classified as a CARRIER. Carriers should (and historically in real modern Earth) be capable of carrying lots of smaller aircraft... Ranging from 72-120+ fighters/bombers, scouts, rescue helicopters, etc.
In terms of Star Trek, however, I know we're limited to two hangar slots (1 squadron total = 12 fighters, or 4 total escort type ships, such as the JHAS or the Birds of Prey.
However, none of the designs listed here even look bigger than a Heavy Escort/HEC. Which begs the question: why are they not doing a more Jem Dreadnaught or Obelisk Carrier sized ship?
thelunarboy;12726663 You just continue to prove me 100% correct with every attempt at an argument you post. Childish is the word you used and yet you found my original post (which was nothing more than my personal opinion) insulting enough to dive straight at me with an attempted attack on my character. You make the assumption that you have any right to tell me or anyone else what they would or would not like. You also assume you know what the directors and designers working on each film would have wanted. I doubt they would appreciate you or anyone else slandering them in such a way. Oh and just for clarification the first film didn't debut in the 80's as you stated it premiered December 7, 1979 (17 days before my birthday that year). My favorite ship design of all time happens to be the B'rel that first appeared on The Search for Spock and I love the WOK uniforms as well as the Constitution II. Had Star Trek debuted in the 80's AND those designs had been the ones featured then yes I still would have loved it but I'll always hold the first ship/s and uniforms in higher reguard simply because they were the first and deserve that level of respect. All that said if you have nothing constructive to contribute to the converstation at hand please find another one. If nothing else take this advice to heart. An opinion is something everyone everyone is entitled to but assumptions and demands most certainly are not and when you make them you often destroy your own credability.
Please do not post anything else directed toward me in an insulting manner and keep YOUR OWN opinion as YOURS instead of trying to demand that I share it with you or make the assumption that I will be shaken from my own opinion/s.

Looks to me like Alpha is narrowly winning Twiter, and Beta is crushing Facebook as hard as Alpha is crushing here, if not harder, but it also looks like Facebook and Twitter don't have nearly the amount of responses to make up for the defecit here. There's 1.5k responses to the Facebook post, only a little more than votes here for Alpha alone. Even assuming it's mirroring the totals, going 60% for Beta, that'd bring Beta to 1800 with Alpha sitting at 1900. Twitter seems to cut slightly for Alpha based on my browsing the responses but the difference seemed negligible and it might have a larger HISTORY for Beta, which would then equal the totals out.
I'm not too sold on either design really, but Alpha looks far too Escort like to me, and I really don't like the nacell arrangement.
Beta is trying to evoke the Big D, but missing by a mile. The saucer is a weird shape and the entire side view is squat, like someone stepped on it. But again, Alpha just doesn't FEEL like a carrier in any way, shape, or form to me.
Honestly just about the ONLY design that I like is Delta. Other than Delta and Beta ALL of the designs seem far and away more fitting for Escorts. Delta looks like it might fit nicely as an early foray into the Enterprise J lineage.
Well we don't know how big these thing are do we? they may look like escorts but could be huge, at least I'm hoping they aren't going to go and make some little TRIBBLE of a ship and try to pass it off as a full carrier. I just wish the guy that's coming out with all these quad engine monohull designs would just go...I don't know what he should do. What the hell is wrong with Star Trek Starfleet ships looking like Starfleet ships?
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
Hi. Thought I'd take a hike down from team Omega to see how you jocks are doing. All goes well?
Yep.
I voted. But doesn't all this 'multi-round elimination' contest do is waste time?
We've seen all 8 designs. Clearly Omega is the winner far above all the other designs for a carrier. Many people are only voting in the early rounds (like myself) until it is up.
So what's the point of these single round eliminations?

The needs of the many outweighs the need for one.
We are in time to change.
Beta, will certainly be better.
ALL the designs look like Escorts or Heavy Escorts to me. Only Theta looks like it could do all of that AND possibly carry a small escort ship.
Either way, if you truly wanted to engage your players in a "Design a ship" contest... then you should allow us to submit our own designs.

It's closer than any one venue suggests
