I really am not fond of ANY of those designs tbh. And no, the Oddy already has 2 pets on it, it doesn't need a hangar bay.

The Oddy really doesn't have two pets really...one is Chevron separation with no target/control and the other is Aquarious ship which again goes off on it's own.

Both can't be used at the same time. Therefore at best it's one pet and it uses a precious console slot not a hanger slot. Not worth it.

Ah yes the chevron seperation, can't really consider that a pet, derp. You are right there.

    3- omega

I predict the winning design will be hated like the Dervish. It will be the second coming of the Dervish.

What's wrong with the Dervish? It's not beautiful but it's far from the worst out there.

It's not the design - when Cryptic released that escort they had a community contest to come up with a name for it. Some guy suggested Dervish and he won - against all the other names suggested, and the community went into a rage. The trolling and flame wars on the forums was epic.

I'm betting something similar will happen with this. One design will win, over all the other good designs, and great trolling and flame wars will be had. I'm looking forward to the fireworks.

I think the Omega will win just because of sentiment. The Sigma is beautiful though it needs to be brought in as a science ship! Beta, Gamma, Delta are nice unique designs they would make awesome ships too with some minor touching up!
The Sigma is obviously destined to be the T6 update of the Stargazer class, so no, it can not be a science ship because it is already a cruiser. This is also why it can not be a carrier. It is a cruiser.

Surprisingly, it's actually already been decided that these are carrier designs. Since the point of the contest is to decide on a design for Starfleet's next carrier design.

i don't see the resemblance to Jupiter, beyond four nacelles, which is hardly unprecedented. What I see is an Intrepid(J?) turned upside down and stuck to the bottom of the Enterprise J. I thought it was actually another Multi-Vector ship until I realized they want to make that a carrier... huh.
  • eighrichteeighrichte Member Posts: 338 Arc User
Delta really appeals to me. Enough bulk for a carrier, and it's one of the very few four-nacelle designs that grants both pairs proper line-of-sight.

I think this is a great idea. I am sure there are those who will not be happy no matter what, but you get that anywhere. I know there are those who have wanted a Jupiter class, so I am going to help them with my vote toward Omega.

I really dont see any option that I would actually pay money for. I dunno, just not doing it for me.

Nor surprisingly, Cryptic doesn't know the difference. When the Omega design wins the contest, Sigma can become the cruiser it already is.

Take another look at the actual saucer. Its definitely a Jupiter nod. The Dervish/Delta Submission is more Enterprise J inspired.

You know, the Dervish (and a lot of the other Patrol Escort models) don't really remind me of the Enterprise-J so much as they remind me of the Bonaventure class.

I don't care for any of the choices, but I'm old school...
Just give me a larger Movie era Enterprise primary hull, a neck that doesn't look like an accordion attached to a secondary hull that actually looks like it could be a 'through-flight' carrier and two nacelles...
    I'd be a happy camper.
As the choices stand now, I'll pass thank you very much.

Why is there a bug ship fused to the middle of the ship in the Alpha design (top down view)?
  • angrytargangrytarg Member Posts: 11,005 Arc User
    Starfleet carrier. *sigh*

Anyway, if then DELTA is the only option. It's round. Round things are always good.

Yeah...there are much uglier ships out there like the USS Vengeance, the Enterprise J, or the Jupiter :p

Agreed. Except for the part about the Ent J and the Jupiter :D.

Why was that chosen anyway? And what's meant to be the theme with them? Maelstrom and Tempest are storms, the Gryphon's a mythological beast and Dervish and Hermes are some sort of religious thing. What a mess.

But that's not what the ships of 2410 look like. They've evolved from the DS9 era ships ↓ not the TMP ships. The old style of round saucer, distinct engineering hull and non front lit nacelles have gone.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.

Looks eerily similar to an updated Jupiter class dreadnought?

Personally, I'm gonna go for the Omega design. The Jupiter is pretty much defunct now and the design deserves a chance to be updated. The Typhoon got to live on as the inspiration for the Starfleet Command Battlecruisers, I say the Jupiter should get to live on in spirit, too!
    Agreed.

Gamma looks bulky and scary enough for a carrier, I like it.

Most other designs look better suited for smaller ships, i.e. sigma and epsilon would probably look better as a heavy escort.

Thirded. Omega class for the win. Alpha and Delta I could be okay with, but Omega class for me is the one I might actually pay for...
