No, they do not. They used to. Until the Devs got a little overzealous with the nerf bat. Embassy Consoles are currently a waste of Fleet Credits and Dilithium. Unless you need one of the Secondary Characteristics such as threat reduction or hull repair.

I'm just wondering, how do they work exactly?

-That plasma-based Exotic damage, what does that mean? what does it boost? does it boost the plasma explosion? does it boost anything else?

-The plasma explosion, how does it work? it seems several consoles give multiple chances instead of being a cumulative chance, how does the math works? can a single weapon trigger the explosion multiple times (i.e: you have 3 consoles, can a single weapon trigger the explosion 3 times?)?

-Can the plasma explosion be boosted by something else?

Originally, they were supposed to add in a Plasma DOT proc to non plasma weapons, They were also supposed to make plasma based weapons more effective by a small to medium amount based on which MK level of Embassy Console was purchased. This had the result of allowing some players to use what was called the Plasma Doping Effect. Which was where all weapons, plasma and non plasma as well, were made more effective. Due to faulty code placed into the game by the Devs.

When the Dev team noticed the Plasma Doping Effect being used by players, they cried, "Exploit!" and redid the Embassy Consoles so now they only improve plasma-based Exotic explosions. The DOT proc is still there so, the plasma burn still happens. However, it appears to be greatly reduced in duration, effect, and occurrance. I've not done any hard and fast research to confirm or deny this.

When it was announced in Patch Notes what was being done to the Embassy Consoles, I promptly pulled all the ones I had and Discarded them. Currently I've no intention of purchasing more. Which makes it hard on my Rommie char with all those SRO Boffs and being all-in on Rommie Rep weapons and gear. But I've adapted.

The above are my opinions based upon my observations. If any other player has more complete or better info on this, I'd appreciate it if you'd share.

They aren't worthless but they no longer overshadow everything else by a large margin. They still add a nice DPS bonus especially when using FAW or CSV. The explosions no longer crit because they were doing obscene amounts of damage when they did. It may be revisited in the future if time permits.

Only people who can't play complain about menial things like KLW and the nerfed plasma procs. If they want to complain there are far more OP things to go after.

The Dev team didn't cry 'exploit!' and even if they did: many players on here were asking for the nerf, and that's quite understandable given the insane DPS people were achieving with Science consoles that were basically acting as extra tactical consoles.

Anyway, @ OP, those consoles aren't useless. Not at all. They're still some of the best shield buffing consoles and they have secondary effects like adding boosts to graviton generators. Or power insulators lol  *cough, cough*.

My DPS hasn't really dropped, then again I'm using cannons and from what I've gathered, people were able to achieve that high DPS by using beams and FAW or something like that. So that may be why I'm not noticing much of a difference.

I still see people here on the forum who claim that the plasma explosion is too powerful, for example the guy who made the thread a couple days ago complaining about the kemocite laced weapons skill.

Oh yeah them and kemocite work awesome together :D

The plasma explosion may very well have been too powerful. I don't care enough about min/maxing or DPS to track it for my chars. I shoot things in STO and they die. The only difference between what my ships do and what the guy at the top of the DPS Leagues does is the time it takes. While I'd like to one shot a TAC Cube or an Iadion Dreadnought, I can hold my own in any STF on any difficulty setting. l'll not set the game on fire with my DPS output, but no one is going to be carrying me.

I liked the secondary characteristics of the Embassy Consoles, Such as Threat Reduction or Improved Shield Repair. Still like'em but there are other ways of getting these same effects without resorting to spending Fleet Credits or Dilithium.

As someone who plays around with them because they are still fun, yes. As far as I know, the AMP from UR warp cores makes them a little stronger. That also goes for the xindi insectoid universal console as well.

I don't know about these consoles in specific, but generally multiple consoles of getting the same effect work like this in STO. Let's assume, we have a 20% chance of something occuring.

    No consoles - won't occur
1 console - 20% occuring, 80% not. So far, so good.

2 consoles: the second console is only "asked" if the first failed. So it will work on 20% of the 80%, shich gives us 16% more, so

    2 consoles - 36% yes, 64% (80% times 80% no)

Accordingly it is easier to calculate the chances of something not occuring, deduct it from 100% and you have your chance, so as an example

    5 consoles - not occuring 80%^5 is a little less than 33%, so a 67% chance

And no, there are no multiple explosions from the same weapon if this works as the other stuff

yes, the plasma-based exotic damge is used for eject warp plasma, plasma shockwave (rom singularity skill) etc, but not by weapons (beams, cannons or torps)

What about the particle emissions torpedo? (the one you can craft)

Oh, I slightly misunderstood the OP's question. The proc works with plasma energy weapons but the exotic damage bonus doesn't apply. I knew that.

From what I can tell, it effects both!!!

Equip a console, and the 9.6% raises the actual dmg from plasma dots, whether they be plasma weapons and plasma torpedoes.

It doesn't seem to effect the base plasma dmg any, just the dot effects from what I can tell.
