Because apparently, the OFFICIAL STO FORUMS, are no longer the place to find out about happenings in the game.

Yeah, I bookmarked that page about a month ago. It's a good place to check, though reddit seems more official now.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
What the hell is so hard about posting the patch notes in the Release Notes forum? You know, like every other damned game does?
That's where they used to be posted, and STO was good enough to post the notes the day before the patch. They were really on the ball with that. It was great. I've played A-rated MMORPGs where the patch notes aren't posted until hours after the patch is already done (I'm looking at you Elder Scrolls Online).

Usually this is done by design FWIW -- it's not about posting them 'late' cause someone slept in.
The fact we are having to have a conversation regarding where to find the latest info is sad.
Yep. I didn't even know about it being on the website until mustrumridcully0 pointed it out because I actually tried to find it there. Not that I tried that hard to find them, but still.

Seems we have had the same thread a few times already lately. We really are in a Temporal Loop.

That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
you can get the patch notes from the STO launcher just like before...
Ok, I will make sure I install the launcher at work just so I can get the notes during the day . . . no issues there
while your at it, you could bookmark the news site linked above. I mean it's not like your getting payed to do a job at work and not keep up to date with your hobbies. :P
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
Sadly you had to ACTUALLY LEGITIMATELY USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION -- which is TRIBBLE.
Whoever their community manager is , needs to get a new job.
This particular search is linked on the website itself, so you don't have to actively look for the search feature, you just click the link "Patch Notes".
If they don't want to post under the forums with the release notes, that's fine. I then vote they scrap that section all together, then add a sticky here with a link to the release note section of the website.

Actually, I like that idea!
There was a choice by folks to not be posting patch notes in the forums after the Vanilla migration, and instead move them over to the website. This was due to accessibility concerns, as well as pure visibility. Those blog post versions of the patch notes get roughly 5x the amount of views compared to the forum version.
The reason why I left the forum patch notes up was to keep them in a legacy archive mode, while I go through a forum restructuring. I'm not satisfied with the Vanilla forums in their state and would like to improve them, especially after the changes that happened while I was away on vacation.
But thanks for everyone who are thinking I'm just herp-derping around!

Also, still no dev tracker, I'm just saying.
Instead, the Official Star Trek Online Website is the place to get the information! Shocking, isn't it?

But this site also usually shows the links to the most recent patch notes (after a patch has rolled out.)

You got to PW master site... under games select the STO tile. Then click on the news tab.
Book mark reddit/sto for forums and STO news page for news seems to be the way to go these days.

Gave up on hearing anything anytime soon, on these forums.
and arc has em too. it seem there are no shortage of way to read em and half of em are easier then going tro the forum to dig em up.

To my knowledge, SW:TOR doesn't, for exampe. They have a dedicated place where you can look up the latest patch notes.
