It has been close to a year since our last expansion. I have not heard of any new actual expansions. I know season 11 is coming, but these don't usually come with a huge amount of content like the expansions do. Has PWE decided to not do any more expansions?

It may not be up to Cryptic, and PWE may not want to use the resources atm on STO only. They have another game to, so, who knows.

A LOR/Delta Rising type expansion is a special thing and trying to establish a pattern after only 2 expansions in 5 years is a bit bold.
My question is more - shouldn't we have had a new episode today? The Iconian War is to be finished before Season 11, isn't it? Shouldn't it be more than just one other episode, and if so, wouldn't the usual 4 weeks of featured episode status mean it gets a bit tight?
Next episode will be most likely the last episode, we will see the full Iconian conclave and the Iconians before turning into energy beings.
As said above, Season 11 is coming.
But that said, I think they are secretly working on a MAJOR Expansion of somekind for the Star Trek 50th Anniversary.
The usual featured period is 3 weeks, with only Broken Circle having lasted 4 this season.
Also, even if we did try to build a pattern out of 2 expansions, they were almost 17 months apart, so that pattern based on little information would suggest no earlier than March of next year.
This was not an expansion, but a season update. The two are not the same.

then came DR, do the players still love it? or has that stupid meme finally gone out the window? that was just as bad mostly since the main reason was and still has to do with the silly grinding.
everything between that was hardly noticed, the latest season ".5" release almost sank without a trace.
i was expecting an expansion from this team around the same point last year, indications pointed at the latter half of this year to mid point next year. but nothing has come from it.
if cryptic wants to keep up with its direct competitor that does swtor, cryptic will need to seriously start pulling out the stops to try and make it look like they can compete. tor is bringing out a major expansion to their game, and all sto has manged is a few fe's not really that well received because of this iconian "war", well, supposedly a war anyways.
i wonder how cryptic will respond to the challenge offered from its direct competitor.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Yeah becuase dinosaurs with lasers is totally less ridiculous than giant Spock clones, warp 10 salamanders, Picard dress as freaking Robin Hood, aliens using people as board game pieces with magic tech, and ect.
The Iconian War was not an expansion, so he was right and you are wrong. It has been almost a year since the last expansion.

Seasons and expansions get me confused at times. DR came out last fall, New Romulus came out in the summer. So its hard to say when the next big one will come out.

Hmm, that's odd. Well, we've only had 2 expansions, and we're about to have our 11th Season, so expansion are obviously much more rare. Also, expansions will have a ton of new mission content(in the case of LOR, it was the Romulan storyline, in the case of DR, it was the Delta storyline). Seasons may have a handful of new episodes, but nowhere near the same amount of content.

Iconian War was not an Expansion. That was Season 10 - 10.5

Legacy of Romulus: May 21, 2013
Delta Rising: October 14, 2014
From LoR to DR it was 1 year, 4 months, 23 days excluding the end date
From DR to now it is 10 months, 20 days excluding the end date.
Geko has mentioned tho that he does indeed want to make a new Expansion, but it wont be any time soon^tm.

Or maybe 2 expansions in 5 years don't really tell us anything about patterns.

Expansions take a lot more time and resources than a season to develop, work on Legacy of Romulus probably began about late season 5 - mid season 6 and Delta rising probably started preliminary work before LoR was even released.
