Tales of the war 20/Leeta has future weapons!

Wow, it'd be cool to see this (TotW #20) reflected in the New Romulus adventure zone. Too bad it almost certainly won't happen. (And if you're not going to change the adventure zone, why set a Tales of the War on New Romulus?)

And the MU Empire has weapons from the future. I'm curious how that happened. (And how our war's going to end, probably off screen.) I almost wrote Leela. It'd be a cool Easter egg to have the Planet Express ship occasionally show up and start blasting away in the mission.

The devs talked a while about howt hey would like to update the new Romulus map with new features, but whether this is the time they will do it?

We'll probably learn more about it in Season 11.

How did that wimpy terran empire, which got slaughtered every time it tried to enter our universe, defeat the iconians?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Maybe we'll learn about it?

Or maybe it's just hybris. Terran Empire people are not all that smart.

Seems clear from the story that someone from the future (or a future) in the Mirror Universe went back in time to arm them against the Iconians.

Must be the temporal disruption device. <makes a note to stop testing various sets and return to the big boom setup>

According to Leeta, weaponry from the future. No word on who gave them the weaponry. I guess that now that they've won, she can send the schematics back to herself.

I think in the mirror universe they have nothing like temporal police, they changed something very importand and they are now extremely strong ( 70lvl :) ), in additional "in regular " mirror universe, Leeta is leader of Terran resistance (something like Leia in StarWars) and not the leader of Terran Empire.

Hey I found appropriate music to listen to while reading this

(Yes I know its the Romulan theme but the used it for the Terran Empire too.)

Temporal cold war you say? Me thinks maybe. Sphere builders give the Terran empire temporal wiffle bats perhaps? :P

Makes sense they wouldn't have that seeing as they would all probably like to luck out like Mirror Hoshi Sato and get a ship from the future that lets them conquer the empire.

I bet that in the same time the Alliance made friends in Delta Quadrant they went and slaughtered the Krenim survivors and stealed the temporal technology to access future to retrieve weapons to fight the Iconians.

The fact the Terran Empire is now armed with future weapons should mean MU ships should became endgame now.

I don't expect an update to existing ones btw but a T6 Mirror Pack would make sense now.

I don't expect it either though. They don't care about doing meaningful design choices. Prove me wrong Cryptic. Please.

A revamp to the New Romulus adventure zone (the best map ingame imho) would be much welcomed.
About time to return kicking Tal Shiar and Tholian asses with my rom toon.
But again I lost all hope. No expectations no delusions. I take what I get.
I still dream from time to time about using the Gateway to doff off-game in spare minutes as we were told

    Future weapons... *sigh*

So... super-powerful Terrans and not just Terrans. Great.

I was kind of looking forward to an arc where we were, you know, fighting someone we should realistically have a shot at winning against. But I guess we can't have that because OMG! the borg were the greatest threat ever! Until the undine were the greatest threat ever! Until the voth were the greatest threat ever! Until the Vaadwaur were the greatest threat ever! Until the Iconians were the greatest threat ever! Now the Terran Empire with it's new weapons can be the greatest threat ever!

Getting into the ever escalating threat bull**** is poor writing. It's a terrible trope (or two) and one this game has gotten mired in. I really, really wish they'd stop.

How about instead of Cryptic super-powering up the enemies, like the Vaadwaur and now the Terrans, trying to turn them into threats of a scale they have no business being they just, you know, give us a threat that's a match for us instead of one where OMG! we have no hope of defeating such awesome power... you know, until we find the inevitable deus ex machina since we know we can't lose, and they've effectively scaled the enemy beyond us to a point where we can't conventionally fight it.

Constantly trying to "out do" the last enemy never leads anywhere good, and ruins long running media. It's not like after Charlie X or Encounter at Farpoint that all of Kirk and Picard's enemies had to be an escalation from Mr. Evans or Q...

Lets be honest...just like questerius asked...how is the terran empire going to beat the iconians when they can't even beat us...and we're getting spanked by the iconians?

Literally the exact same way the Vaadwaur became a threat despite their technology being 1,000 years out of date... our real enemy (the sphere builders, natch) just came along and handed them super weapons. And of course when we're done with the Vaad... uh, Terrans we'll have to fight the real threat, the Iconi... uh, Sphere Builders.

    *sigh*

Hey, maybe we'll get to visit more Dyson spheres because, you know... who doesn't want more hot Dyson sphere action!?

So the Terran Empire has fought the Iconian War and apparently conquered their whole galaxy? Dang, that kills my plans for a Foundry mission series. :expressionless:

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

But the Sphere Builders aren't more technologically advanced than the federation, the whole reason they went with the time travel retgone scheme was that the federation kicked their asses when the Sphere Builders tried to invade.

I'm surprised no one's considered that with the Cardassian arc revamp this may be the reason why the Empire got upgraded in the 35 years since the last time we were there. Back then, they only had the Mirror Defiant, yet now there are more versions of other ships than you can shake an agonizer at.

Surely I'm not the only one?
  • bioixibioixi Member Posts: 764 Arc User
I'm pretty sure the mirror universe will try to invade, and they'll bring their upgraded DS9 to our universe and destroy our DS9, then we'll capture their DS9 a voilá, a lazy way to explain why our DS9 is getting a visual upgrade while skipping the whole "you need several months to retrofit and upgrade an space station".

Probably because Trendy is on her Burning Man vacation. She said she left instructions, but maybe they didn't include posting links on the forums. But hey, the new blogs are visible in the launcher.

They show up as entries in the RSS feed. The links are borked, because the ARC team doesn't care, but they are an indication that something's up on the game web site.

I think that it's more that they don't care about the few of us who still use RSS, or they don't know how to fix it.

    Not true as it stands.

The Sphere Builders were repelled and forced back into their dimension in the 26th Century (sometime between 2501 and 2600) by a larger Federation with more member worlds which we don't have yet, using advanced technology we don't have yet.

It's currently 2410. We're at minimum 91 years behind the point where the Sphere Builders are repelled, and possibly 190. That's around one-to-two centuries of advances we're lacking.

Keep in mind, Shon is flying the Enterprise 1701-F, the Builders were repelled by the 1701-J... that means there still has to be an Enterprise-G, an Enterprise-H, and an Enterprise-I before we even reach the J. Assuming that Starfleet is refitting between major advances instead of just tossing out new Enterprises for ****s and giggles that means the galaxy is still several major technological leaps behind where it was when it faced the Builders.

Because where we failed with the timeship, they succeeded?

I find this to be a very interesting plot twist. And while I know it's not a popular standpoint on these forums, I must say that the story is steadily improving. If it weren't for the all-powerful endgame enemy bit, I might actually like it.

    RSS = Really Simple Syndication.
If you go to the STO news page, on the right hand side, there's an orange "Subscribe" button. That links to the page's RSS feed. A RSS reader will notify you when a page with a RSS feed updates, so you don't have to keep it loaded in a browser.
