Concorde or Geneva ??

farmallmfarmallm Member Posts: 4,630 Arc User
I'm about to purchase a Command Cruiser. And I'm can't make up my mind on these 2. I love the looks of them both, and their layouts. Sadly I can't get them both or set.

The one I will get will either be used on my Eng Capt or upcoming Sci Capt. However I'm leaning more with the Geneva for my Sci Capt. As it will better suit their role and make good of the Sci powers.

Your thoughts?

Between those two, I would definitely go with the Geneva. The Geneva has a better BoFF layout in my opinion, the Concorde just has too many engineering stations, I end up putting stuff in those slots just to fill it.

The Geneva still has all the Engineering you would ever need, but also has that Lt. Commander Science which is great for any profession. I'm a big fan of Gravity Well, so that one is a huge plus for me. I also greatly prefer the Geneva's 4/4/3 console layout, I have never needed 5 Engineering Consoles for anything. Most consoles now days are universal so this isn't a big deal, but the Geneva can stack more Embassy Consoles which gives it better damage output.

Traits are a wash, I don't find either of them particularly useful. The Concorde has the better Universal Console, but it's not good enough to justify buying the ship.

Might I ask why the Presidio isn't an option? That ship is worth it for the trait alone.

I have the 3 pack myself, and the Concorde is the only one of the 3 that I never ever use. I can't stand the Concorde, but I really like the Presidio and the Geneva. I get fantastic performance out of both ships.

The Presido is nice, but I don't like her looks. Where the other 2 has better looks. I'm about play style and looks. If I could buy the set. I would use elements from all 3 to make a cool ship.

man, if you could just wait for another 3k zen you could get all 3 then kitbash. Of the 3, I like the Presidio and Geneva. The 4 pc set is also good for undergeared alts. If you're specced into flowcaps the Geneva trait is a really nice heal (probably the best in the game) and usually nets me a 1st place in CE. In fact, it's so good, I've dropped other shield heals for tachyon beam.

Personally I would wait and buy all 3, the Presidio trait is great for science powers, but if you can't wait, get the Geneva for your science captain. Also, since it looks like you fly the Ambassador, you'll probably already feel comfortable in the Geneva.

Yeah I love the Ambassador. It replaced the Sovereign you get at Lv40 when it came out. Since then its been my main ship. I'm a big Ambassador fan. That is why the Geneva would work with me well.

I might look into getting the pack. Time will tell.

Fair enough, between the two then it's Geneva all the way. Without a doubt. :)

Hmm, interesting.. I'm going to have to try that. I admit, I read over the trait and didn't really give it a 2nd thought, but I do use Tachyon Beam on one of my builds. Being that I'm heavily invested in Flow Caps, I'll have to give that a shot.

I agree, I will have to try that myself on the Sci Capt.

weather u get it for your engie or not id not get the concorde.
i got all 3 and i went with concorde but like seaofsorrows says it has so many engie and not enough of much else.

as a result i run a Presido with a concorde look as she has a layout similar to my old ody.

so if i were you id go for geneva regardless.

My main is a Sci and I've spent most of my time in the Geneva. She is an amazing ship if you like to play Sci heavy cruisers. As others have mentioned above, getting the three ship set for the price of two is a good deal you may want to consider as it allows you to mix and match parts. Plus if you want Presidio's DPS, you can still make it look like one of the other ships at the ship tailor.

Another ship I recommend, if you like more classic Trek looks, is the Guardian. While it doesn't have the four tac consoles of the Presidio, it does allow you to slot Override Subsystem Safeties (aka the best boff power in the game), comes with both a LtCmdr TAC *and* SCI, all four cruiser commands, a really good universal console (Particle Conversion Matrix), and the Desperate Repairs starship trait which is pretty decent. I switched to the Guardian on my Sci recently and I have no regrets. It packs a hell of a punch.
