First things first: Cryptic - make PvP foundry missions available, it would add a lot more variety.
Now down to business. In the current state of the game, most of what we do is grind for ever, get what we want, then our gear shortly becomes useless. Even if you can afford to keep up with the current game play, do you enjoy the never ending grind? So here are a few things to conciser:
- Do you enjoy grinding constantly?
- If you can get a team will full of the best gear, is it fun to continuously use it vs people with terrible gear?
- How often do you have to redo what you have?
- Would PvP not be more enjoyable if there was at least a "gear balance"?
So what would go with this? Well how many of us currently have a Life-Time Subscription? A lot of us. So why are we still playing on Holodeck when there is Tribble, a server with much less people, and mostly FREE stuff (so long as you can get it on Holodeck and send it over).
How would this work? So say you finally get that ship you wanted on Holodeck, first thing you do is send that char over to Tribble. Next you sell that and tada, you can get something else. Now this DOES raise the issue of "now everyone can fly the wells/krenim dread/<insert ship name here>. Well lets think about it, if EVERYONE was able to fly a maxed out Prtg wells, you'd assume that eventually (probably pretty fast) people would break off of that and go their own way. There are as well people who just don't want to do that; they have their own playstyle and don't want to break from it. Similar to this, there is RedShirt, we can do very similar situations there, as I believe in both you can get items like, UPGRADES and DILITHIUM, REP, ETC for "free", and I may be wrong here, but is RedShirt not available to all?
So what is there to benefit from this kind of "move" so to speak?
- More Balance
- Less Grind (don't you hate when the queues don't pop because too many people are grinding for gear?)
- Less self cost
- More Variety (if you can afford to do more, you will try more)
- *Less Lag (* because even though there will be less people there, the server is obviously smaller)
This is just an idea I wanted to pass by, because not only would it help us in theory, but say Cryptic decides to go with it and make RedShirt or Tribble (why have two test servers) a PvP server, then that would help us out (they would be able to set different game mechanics for it as well).
So I know some of you can't access Tribble, so I'd like to hear your thoughts on this Idea. I've as well created a channel called "TribblePvP" for if this takes off. (Channels like OfficialPvP and TribblePvP should be distinguished, because for competitive stuff, those should probably be done on the Holodeck where self effort does matter)
)
Thanks for your time, please share your thoughts.

Make all (Public) Space PvP Maps using only Capture & Hold Maps - of course the current one is unacceptable and need a revamp plus add a few more new C&H Maps with different variations, fix capturing checkpoints based on players ships not Ship Crew and spaced out the capture points on the current and new maps due to multiple speed buff's that were added throughout the past few years. as for Arena Maps from what i've seen, it no longer serve it's purpose in a bugged game like this especially how there is alot of unbalanced TRIBBLE in this game, it's just basically either 1 DPS team vape another team within a few min or a match that can last up to 1 to 2 hrs due to multiple Tank Healers. not to mention in a 2d plane combat layout with this poor climb and dive mechanic and with all the increase speed to player ships, alot of players tend to fly top end of the map all the time now, while atleast in C&H most players would stay down to capture points without straying off to the edge of the map.
Add better reward system - I believe why PvP is so dead is because of a lack of good reward system, speaking from my experience, most of the time that i'm not in PvP'ing is because i spend most of my time grinding PvE queues weather it's for Marks, Dilithium and/or XP, which is something u don't get much from PvP queues and as for Marks case none at all. the best way to solve this issue is add a per match reward system similar to PvE for PvP with a fix amount of rewards (example) 10-15 Choice of Marks, 240-480 Dilithium, and a bonus XP per kill weather it's a Pure, Shared or Tagged that's similar in XP amount killing Elite NPC enemies in PvE Elite Maps.
