Why do I get the bad feeling that Heralds were being used to abduct people simply because the writers forgot that the Elachi exist?

This is because the Elachi never existed, the krenim weapon has already been stolen and used you see...
    DUN-DUN DUNNNN!!!!

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

See.... another story the war needs!

I'm thinking L'Miren and T'Ket are on the war path. Maybe L'Miren wants people to experiment on?
Maybe bio-weapon development? Create a substance that they can introduce via gateway to a planet and wipe out the entire population.... kinda like fumigating to kill bugs.
Maybe they need new Heralds... They may have lost a few during the war.

Maybe they have some way of turning others into their lesser races that sever them.
That or M'Tara's lot commited scuicide with the loss of their god.
I just had a scary thought.... What is L'miren's idea of war?

She strikes me as the sane one of the group ... well ... before Broken Circle.

So my guess... she was either playing it causiously or her Heralds were attacking somewhere else in the galaxy. Hell maybe M'Tara's "death" is something M'Tara and T'Ket cooked up so L'Miren would activly take part in the war.

"... We are eternal. They are fragile things, beholden to time. In the end, whether our victory comes today or tomorrow makes no difference."

"If we destroy them, we will rule over a galaxy of ghosts. Leaders must have those who would be led."

"There was a time when we wanted to help the lesser races. They were not ready for all of our gifts, but they could benefit from our guidance."

I have to agree with the previous posts, L'Miren always advised caution and patience. It appears she wanted to invest her energies into understanding her "subjects". To influence them, and work in the background to push them into the direction she inteded for them - rather than exercising terror like T'Ket would.

Following that train of thought... Maybe these Thralls belong to L'Miren and because of M'Tara's death, she is studying the various species of the galaxy for the most effective way to steamroll us - building on Hakeev's notes from the Nopada system (Coliseum mission).

"Her [T'Ket's] passion had always been an essential part of the Whole, but conflict had turned passion for vengeance to irrational hatred."

I'm starting to suspect that this "Whole" was some kind of collective that each Iconian was connected to. They had their own unique place, like the facets of a gem, sharing their talents and/or traits with the others. In this state, I bet they had very few weaknesses (maybe only their inability to do time travel), each lending its strengths to the rest.

When the Whole was destroyed they've become separated from each other; and while they are still powerful, they have become flawed:

    • T'Ket is quick to anger, easy to goad into combat (House Pegh) and swears vengeance upon any who wrong her.
    • M'Tara herself admitted that no one could force her to retreat for over 200,000 years and that foolish pride was ultimately the cause of her fall. If you are OP enough, you can live without the finer tricks of military tactics to achieve good results. She was also blind to the fact that Iconians are mortal as well. Another thing of note: possessing advanced technology doesn't necessarily mean you are enlightened or wise.
    • L'Miren strikes me as someone who is slow to act. Maybe even hesitant at times?

Edit: Cut and posted the second half later to try & keep it below the TLDR threshold XP

Or could the Other be at work here? Who or What is the Other? With the war ending soon I hope we will find out...unless this is something we will only discover in New Dawn...

    Something else caught my eye.

In the blog, where the quotes are from, T'Ket says:
"The Whole was shattered. Our world lost. And I will have payment for every drop of blood that has been spilled."

And Sela ends her fourth transmission with this:
"... In my own way I am striking back against the Iconians. I will succeed. The Whole will shatter, and I will be there to see it."

Either total coincidence, we're not talking about the same Whole... or Sela will indeed travel back in time and cause the destruction on Iconia that triggers the fall of their empire 200,000 years ago. One big blasted circle!

    *claps*
    Solved it!

Just kidding, this was just one big brainstorming. ^^

I dunno, it seems like maybe L'Miren's the sort who resorts to total genocide if she decides a race isn't worth having around.

Huh? L'Miren dosen't strike me as the sort to go genocidal crazy on us. (Didn't)

M'Tara ... (Unless this a clever plan to get L'Miren involved) ... is gone.

    T'Ket ... Sure ... Death to everything!

The other nine Iconians? Your guess is as good as mine.

I have a feeling the final answer to the whole Iconian threat will involve simply detonating Omega or Jumping one of the Dyson Spheres on top of the other where the Heralds are based out of. Problem solved, albeit a small part of space will be rendered useless for a bit...

It's just a matter of pondering HOW L'Miren would kill humans IF she wanted them dead.
