Devs: Please, please unlock these existing hairstyles for players to use

pweistheworstpweistheworst Member Posts: 986 Arc User
At this point I've completely given up on the hope that PWE and Cryptic will dedicate dev resources to adding a wide range of new hairstyles and body types to the game for players to use with our own characters and bridge officers.

However, I'm holding on to the hope that the devs can at least give us access to hairstyles that are already in the game but that we cannot use.

Specifically, there are two hairstyles in the game that are designed for women that we can't use at this time: The long hair commonly used for female Cardassian NPCs and the long hairstyle used by Miral Paris and several other NPCs when Season 10.5 launched.

I would VERY much like to use these hairstyles with my various Cardassian and Klingon characters and bridge officers.

Please, these assets are already in the game. All a dev has to do is make them available in the tailor as optional choices for female characters.

Please, please let players use the visual content you've already made for this game.

The devs not unlocking assets available in game for our characters is unfortunately, something ongoing for quite a while. Definitelly supporting this & generally, giving us access to other currently unaccessible assets.

As someone who works for a company that has to juggle extremely limited resources I understand not being able to dedicate personnel to producing new resources every time a customer suggests adding something new.

However, in this case we're talking about resources that PWE, Cryptic, and more importantly the devs have already spent time and money to produce.

If it's already in the game and can be easily added to the tailor there isn't much justification for denying access to these assets in the game.

^ Sure there is: exclusivity to those characters. You know, to make them epically special.

I would buy that excuse ... if multiple NPCs didn't use these hairstyles.

If we already have multiple NPCs using these hairstyles then there is nothing "special" about these hairstyles other than the fact that players can't use them. :(

Well, maybe more than them... Specifically for Klingons except the last image (see in context here).

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Except, in the end, it is our (player) characters, which should be special. Not a bunch if inanimate NPCs most of us will either glare at (because they're given priority over us) or not even looked up (after running through the content several times). This is something highly overlooked by the development team, imho.

In other words, is there anyone who plays STO to look at NPCs? No. I know RP'ers who'd want unaccessible & existing assets & features (in tailor), I know some folks even enjoy customization for the sake of being creative. But, I can't imagine anyone being like 'ok, amazing NPC' - given the premise of how they are often used...

It is unique to those characters, such as Miral, to make those characters unique.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

Also rather odd argument - given the balding hair of the Doctor & Tom Paris's hairstyle are available to us...

Besides, I'd almost imagine people wanting to use the assets; rather than unique NPCs... IJS.

No. It isn't. Miral's hairstyle can be seen on Krenim female NPCs in the mission where you find the Krenim colony that is temporally out of phase and "cloaked" from the Iconians. It is also used by some Krenim female DOffs if you look at the headshots of some female Krenim DOffs.
