Episode Writer:Ronald D. Moore?

I'm sure this idea has been floated around plenty of times, many just as many times as we've moved forums ;) ..
But seriously, and not just Ronald D. Moore, but would it be possible to have some Star Trek writers/Directors to come on to do some story arc work just like we have the actors?

It's a bit of a tall and loaded question, and I'm in no way out to offend any staff, but I was replaying the latest FE and thought "Hey, this would be awesome if this was done by Ron." Being a DS9 fan I always felt he knew a thing or two about how to put together a pretty dark and epic battle scene for Trek. I know that using in game footage/graphics is bar far easier on the bank, but having some animated cutscenes was something else I'd always dreamed of in STO.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Could they get some writers/directors on board to augment some of the Episodic story arcs that have already been laid down? I don't mean for them to rewrite anything, but to have some hands on with the guys that wrote something like the Best of Both Worlds or Sacrifice of Angels would be nice :)

Cheers.

I am not sure if Ron Moore's strength aren't more building series and character arc, rather than an individual episode story. I could be wrong.

Anyway, it seems doubtful this would happen. Voice Actors are one thing - you read your lines (with whatever enthusiasm and talent you got), but working out a story? That's a lot more involved.

    No thank you.

After the abysmal ending pf DS9 and the flat out offensive ending of Battlestar Galactica (for which Ron Moore actually pulled in his wife to troll and insult people criticising him for it, very mature) I'm not inclined to ever tolerate his writing ever again.

What part of the ending of DS9 was abysmal?

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

    The Pah-Wraith Sisko Jesus nonsense.
This was supposed to be the finale and aftermath of the Dominion War, instead we got Evil Devil Dukat and Sisko battling it out with magic powers as a culmination to a silly and unwelcome plot arc.

I'd actually agree with you there, the whole 'Dukat is the anti-Sisko' plot worked better before 'Duet'. After he went mad, dropped out of the Dominion and started mucking about with mad gods, he went downhill.

My leaning is that the actual process of writing an episode is much more hands-on and subject to technical needs than you'd get from a freelance screenwriter. It would be cool if they got him to contribute plot ideas or if they worked out a deal to adapt some of the unfilmed story ideas that I assume CBS now owns, although WGA contracts can be somewhat prohibitive in this regard depending on the specifics. SAG alone required some flexibility that takes some real effort to meet and a WGA arrangement might be prohibitively difficult when you look at the need to write around and to game design objectives.

There's a LOT that has to be tailored to the product and the format. As Marshall McLuhan once said, "The medium is the message."

Would it be cool? Heck, yeah. And I was making threads to this effect five years ago.

Is it the best idea...? There are logistical concerns in terms of hiring and nature of the work. These things aren't necessarily built exactly like screenplays.

So, I'll stick with, "Yeah! That would be cool." But it's not exactly something I'd necessarily demand either.

So you're offering to pay him his salary while he in-houses at Cryptic? Mmmk. I think his going rate is like several hundred USD every hour.
    Rejoice JJ Trek people....
