I wasn't certain if there was a thread for this.
Is it really worth buying an upgrade token for a T5 ship if a T6 version is coming out? I mean, is it worth it to upgrade a T'varo to T5U if a T6 version were to be released? I don't want to waste any zen.

And also the new T6 ship will cost you 3k zen and the token only 700, so there's that.
One thing is for certain. Cryptic releases ships faster than ever. It almost feels like they terribly need cash infusions or something. It would not surprise me if we have the entire Tier 6 portfolio of previous Tier 5-U ships within the next 3 months.
The only upgrade token I ever used was on the scimitar only to replace that ship with the free nandy a few months later. I do not regret that but would not upgrade my Defiant or Prometheus ships atm.

Yeah really seems that way. Would be really nice if some of those infusions would be hooked up to their bugfixing department 'cause god knows, they would really need it.
Yep there.
What make it especially disturbing is that all the efforts (spec trees) and recourses (ship traits) we spend on game are most likely responsible for the bad game performance we get in form of laggy space runs while ground seems to be much better of.

As long as you understand what you get taking your ship to T5U or going all the way into T6. There are Pro's & Con's either way you go. There are inarguable improvements a T6 ship has over it's T5 and T5U version. Whether it's enough to go the next tier up or going at a lower performance increase for lower cost with T5U. Or to put it in more common terms... Tier 5.5 instead of going Tier 6.
Examining the stats will tell you what you need to know what you get out of T5/T5U/T6. But since STOwiki is worthless in seeing T5U stats, I'll leave this official news release about the difference of T5U and T6 from before Profits Rising came out.

I stress that T5U is a bargain. It gives SOME of the perks of T6 but not the full deal. Understand that first and foremost.
T5-U ships are yours at this very moment. T6 ones may or may not come.
T5-U ships get all the stats of the appropriate T6 variant except the additional 13th Boff slot, some specialization slots and a starship trait upon mastering the T6 version.
So obviously T6 is better, but assuming you've got the T5 version, it's more expensive to rebuy the ship at full price.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
I've always wanted a Rom Sci ship, but seeing the real meaning of gimmicky (outdated) consoles on the Dysons, and how underwhelming T5FU class continues to be in some cases such as a Flagship C-Store Odyssey vs newer T6 cruisers (obvious on both lowly alts and high end tank builds), plus the lockout on the deflector and set behind a lobi store (wasn't a member for that event) is truly sufficient to just abandon hope for Rom Science unless they make a T6 version and that hopefully looks decent and not like a toy like some of the newer KDF ships, or like a rush job like rom pilot ships.
Also considered a Prometheus, but not with a broken MVAE console where you still have to come to a full stop to separate, only to end up with nerfed separation units. If a T6 variant comes without a MVAE console, forcing us to also buy the T5 for it, then a T6 without separation is no longer a Prometheus, but then if it has one, what's the point of the T5 console that does the same thing?
Either way not a lot of things make sense to me at the moment, and instead of looking forward to ships to get as in with the T5 era, it's waiting and saving on T6 remakes of the ones we may already own (vestas, rom-dreads, odyssey, b'rel) or those we wanted but in light of T6 no longer seem worth it (rom dysons, fleet b'rel, T'varo, prometheus) or existing T6 that might be interesting but are lower in priority than what could be up next (Rom Commands, Morrigu, Jhu’ael).
I'm also waiting to see how they will treat our existing 3-pack ships. It's fun flying the Tulwar over the Scimitar for example, but if only 1 T6 variant replaces them but still (hopefully) uses their 3 consoles for a 4 console bonus, that's already a load of consoles that better get some very good set bonus to actually make up and surpass UR or Gold consoles for all those slots (now totaling 8,000 zen), but then reducing flexibility with a 5-Tac layout. Releasing 3-packs as another T6 follow-up 3-pack might fix the lack of flexibility, but then you're either looking at 6,000 zen for a ship that may or may not look that much better than existing ones with parts that have to fit (Avenger was good enough for me but just barely), or retiring 2 of the 3 T5s for just 1 of them at 3k zen.
Options are good, but right now it's too confusing, and an expensive game that doesn't fix serious issues or introduce new PvE scenarios or gameplay dynamics becoming more expensive is an issue in itself.
Actually i bought the 3-pack ages ago, because i always loved the ship. but the ORIGINAL one, the one we all saw in "nemesis" not this monster. I flew it for about 4-5 months and i just parked it. The ship is toooooooo big for my style (well i have other big ships, but i just dont like false sized ships and in the end everything i can achieve with the scimi i can do it with any of the new and half-old shinys, so.. i dont use it anymore lol).
But almost 3 years later i regret it, because was almost one of the few things i actually bought with real money. But right now i will never replace any of my ships with the scimitar lol.
