Suggestions for Returning Player?

I've been away from the game since shortly before Delta Rising, how did things turn out with the T6 ships and whatnot, what should I focus on to get caught up?

Getting to level 60, which is now a chore in it's self, not to mention if you want to try and max out the spec tree's during and after getting to 60, then there's the dilithium hungry and extremely inefficient rng upgrade system, if you want to get your gear top of line again.

What about new ships, do I need to do that, or is my old T5 ship as good as any newer one?

You are in luck, now is the time to get back into the game. No longer are you stuck at level 50, 10 more levels were added. Even after you reach level sixty, your continue to work towards specialization points, these can be used to make your character even more skilled to take a number of different enemies. Cryptic has drastically increased and improved upon T6 ships, many of different types to choose from with new ones every couple of weeks.

With the new R&D system, you no longer have to wait for drops for rare consoles, you can make them yourself. With the upgrade system, for only a modest investment, you can upgrade your VR consoles, weapons and other items to EPIC level, ensuring your mastery of the battlefield.

Last week the armada system was added, this allowed fleets to band together to get discounts, smaller fleets gain the benifit of hundreds, (if not thousands depending on the size of the armada) donating to their projects, while maxed out large fleets can release their piles of fleet marks.
