Bridge view screens

I've been away from the game for awhile I remember that when you changed the bridge the viewscreen when talking to NPCs used to represent the bridge you have installed, now whatever bridge I have installed seems to be the Galaxy class viewscreen, is this a bug or is this how it is now?

It apparently still works for older ships, but not recent ships. So it's either yet another oversight or another slackening. It's even worse for alien lockbox ships, because not only you can't change the bridge, but the viewscreen doesn't reflect it anymore.
