Whoever is the ship designer for this Cryptic need to employ them as either a consultant or designer, They could teach the current designers more than a thing or 2 about Federation and Klingon ship design.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

At least they changed the Nacelles away from the quasi JJ ones they first had. That said having read "The Final Reflection" and played FASA's "The Four Year War" both of which touches on how the Federation won I wonder how far from that this is going to go. I will say it's a shame certian JJ elements are in the ships. Should have gotten Sternback, Probert and Drexler to do the design work.

but the old ones never ever liked those movies
I invalidated your statement quite easily
Good to see that you just quoted a random sentence without sense. Good job lol.

Oh bugger off. I like ST, that includes it all JJ included. I assume you were one of those people who cried themselves to sleep when TNG turned out not to be TOS 'cos it was full of all that diplomacy stuff and not the space adventure of TOS. Or one of those people who declared DS9 not Trek because it was on a station not a ship and had a full scale war. Or VOY wasn't Trek because it was c.rap. Or ENT wasn't Trek because it went back in time to before the Federation

No man, that is not what people who like star trek is complaining about... you still didnt get it. , i will give you an example. Picking the klingons and transforming em into predator bad TRIBBLE look alike dudes living in a desertic look alike moon. Yeah that is completely genuine. Or making impossible action scenes only seen in nowadays-non-sense-sci-fiction-movies that has nothing to do with real star trek. If you like plain sci fiction and action, great (and that thinking is the one i keep when i see jj movies) but if you ever liked the very basic essence of star trek.. you cant call jj movies star trek not in a million light years. But you know what.. this discussion could last forever, so for my end im finished

Oh come on, try harder. Picking the Klingons as your example is moronic. Unless you think this, looks like this, looks like this, looks like this, looks like this?
You have things against action scenes in ST? Like this or this, or this?
You think Star Trek is devoid of action you might want to re-watch it. Try an episode other than 'A Measure of a Man'.
Edit: Oh, haw about you give some of that 'very basic essence of star trek' eh? I can guarantee JJs films will have a good chunk of it.

Some people like heroin. That doesn't mean it's good.
Faulty analogy, comparing drugs to a movie is stupid beyond explanation.
About 900 milllion dollars worth of movie tickets is more than 'some people' I think. Given the Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic rating I'm pretty sure most people like them.

There is nothing faulty about that. My point was, many people have bad taste. You are among them as well as everyone who considers the new Star Trek movies to be more than a brainless sequence of action scenes. Basically what 90% of all post2000s Hollywood movies are.

It could be worse. Imagine they'd turn Klingons from somewhat dark-skinned humans with fancy beards that utilize subterfuge, tricks and pain stimulators into a people for which battle and honor is everything, that swing swods and have some weird looking bumps on their foreheads.
Thank god that never happened in True Star Trek.

It's my favorite but to each his own, I find the characters and acting to be the best/most interesting than any other Star Trek series. Maquis, Starfleet, Kilngons, Holograms, Borg etc. it just doesn't get much more interesting!
I like story-arcs so that's probably why I liked it so much. Constantly trying to get home just gave it an emotional investment and a more clearly defined purpose then previous trek series. I also really loved the Xindi story-arc on Enterprise for the same reasons.
I'm glad there is variety in the Trek genre so that there is a series to suit each persons tastes. The trick is enjoying what you enjoy without seeing the need to shove your opinion down other people's throats. Respect their right to have an opinion. I don't hate any Trek series but I enjoy some more than others. Specifically, anything that's not TOS because William Shatner irritates the TRIBBLE outta me. LOL

Yeah, I just hadn't seen your post before I wrote mine. Not sure if that was because you posted while I was writing my answer, or because I had seen that post and really needed to reply now, regardless of what came afterwards.
The Romulans seem to also undergo some changes, though we haven't seen that much of the Romulans to really know for sure.
An amusing aspect is that in that Romulan Submarine episode, the Romulan Captain realizes that both he and Kirk think rational and logical as they figure out how to beat the other - almost as if "Vulcan Logic" wasn't invented by then, or at least not be considered the reason for the Romulan/Vulcan split.

I hate it when I do that. With a big thread I usually have two tabs open, the one I'm replying in and another of the same thread which I refresh before I post in case there's a new post.

Not to mention their seeming honour concept. And the lack of ridges and haircuts that differed on individuals.

Ah, so your opinion matters more than a few thousand professional critics and millions of fans? That makes complete sense...
To me? Yes. To others? Not so much. Critics are not gods. In fact they are the ones with the God complex assuming that their opinion actually matters to anyone but themselves. I've seen so many movies which (when they came out) were rated badly by critics. They still became cult films later and then opinions changed.
Imho film critics are about as reliable as video game journalists and everyone should know how independent video game journalism is.
I miss the days where we lived in a truly free country and people were allowed to actually have an opinion without being blasted by every insignificant moron with a God complex.
I'm not the one getting emotional because someone on the web told me I had bad taste and who is we? Isn't it some sign of megalomania if you attempt to speak for others? God complex... yeah.. *insert laugh here*
It's really simple, most people like the movies and we are entitled (correct use of the word) to have that opinion or any other opinion for that matter. It's people like you spewing bile at us decent folk that starts these flame fests.
I just wrote that you have bad taste. Is that flaming? I don't think so. It's an opinion. Cut the victim act.
Apart from that I didn't write any insult. Instead you called me an insignificant moron. But of course, *I* am the one "spewing bile at decent folk". I've rarely read anything more self-righteous than your post. Seriously.
schnirsel, dont bother, its obvious that Isegn dont like star trek, he demonstrate it in each post he writes. Besides, someone who likes JJ new star trek movies more than the old ones.. that says it all. You went out of your way to call me names for having an opinion. It was completely unnecessary and yet you did it anyway. Are you an insignificant moron with a God complex? Yup, but I was referring to more than just you.
I'm not getting emotional, you attacked me without cause and I'm defending myself. 'We' is a general statement you read too much into it.
Oh, You forgot to mention the part about 'millions of fans' I find it funny how you chose to only answer certain parts of my argument.

More idiots with God complexes who think their opinion matters more than anyone else's. Full of lies and conjecture about things I didn't say and more logical fallacies than I can count. I have nothing more to say to that kind of egotistical self absorption.

Wow. Just Wow. Now we have:
- idiots with God complexes
- insignificant morons
- egotistical self absorption
You know what I find funny? You write about others using lies and conjecture, but are actually using both yourself.
You write about not wanting a flamewar, but are actually trying to start one yourself. Flamebait failed.
Where I come from we call that behavior hypocrisy.
I'm outta here.
Isegn, you obviously really dont like star trek, just science fiction. The new movies are made only to atract new costumers, but the old ones never ever liked those movies. You cant pick an excuse and say that i am JJ Abrahams and do watever you want with star trek, because if you dont follow the ip in almost every aspect you are not making a star trek movie. We already have a lot of science fiction movies out there.
Funny you should make that claim. Why? I've been a Star trek fan and been watching Star Trek first run since 1969 when it was on NBC. I VERY MUCH have enjoyed the JJ Abrams Star trek films much more then the TNG feature films (which except for ST:First Contact are TRIBBLE - just long winded TV episodes made on a multi-million dollar film budget); as well as Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and Star Trek VI:The Undiscovered Country.
The JJ Abrams films returned Str trek to a lot of it's roots, which included, action adventure and fun (Something that was missing from GR's recon of the franchise with TNG - where suddenly, human beings were perfectly evolved, and living in a utopia without money <--- That sure wasn't Star Trek of the 1960ies. yes, Humans were better and less prejudiced in many areas, but they were FAR from prefect; and still used money in Federation Credits.)
GR loved to preach what Star Trek was about - but it was an overly idealistic view of Star trek in general to pander to his fan base and make them feel 'special'. If you actually WATCHED Star Trek of the 1960ies (on which Abrams bases his films) - you'll see that not every episode was an overly serious morality play making some relevant social commentary. YEs, the original Star Trek did make such episodes from time to time, but they weren't overly common, nor overly high brow in general.
TNG OTOH always came across to me as overly preachy and the fact that Picard's position (after giving one of his speeches was somehow always proven right 9 times out of 10 just screamed that Rick berman and Co. never really watched the original Star trek much; and probably with Gr's blessing considering how much retconning of the Federation occurred in TNG.
Bottom line: You have every right to your opinion (really); but honestly, you need to remember JJ Abrams isn't doing the TNG version of Star Trek with his films - he's doing the ORIGINAL (and in my eyes, superior to anything TNG did) series from 1966-1969; and done it well. If you don't care for the original Star trek from that era, fine. But remember, if not for that series - TNG, DS9,...et al would never have existed.
As for 'Axanar' - I've backed the project because it does look amazing, and from what I've seen of it and Prelude to Axanar, they are in fact doing a great homage to the timeframe of the original Star Trek series I know and love, and I hope they are able to complete and release the project ((and send me my Blu-Ray perk); and don't get hit with a Cease and Desist order from CBS.

schnirsel, dont bother, its obvious that Isegn dont like star trek, he demonstrate it in each post he writes. Besides, someone who likes JJ new star trek movies more than the old ones.. that says it all. Someone who think that the new characters are more "interesting" than the old ones.. i mean.. seriously? xD. I dont think is there something more to discuss lol.
Hahahahahahaha. Oh my goodness, what's that? Someone on the internet has a different opinion on something than you, let's break out the poor True Scotsman, get him to clean out his rusty bagpipes to tell us who's a true Star Trek fan and who isn't.
Thank you so much, it's clear you must be the custodian of all that is Trek and you clearly get to decide what is and what isn't and who can be a fan and who can't.
It's a good thing you can't see how much I'm rolling my eyes, it might give you whiplash.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

simple, from your original post I quoted I invalidated your statement quite easily

Good to see that you just quoted a random sentence without sense. Good job lol.
For you maybe. For me and other people who actually like star trek, they arent.

There is a lot of "Faux" Trek out there, isn't there?
It's amazing CBS ever got a new series made. It's a good job they never asked the fans .

Some people like heroin. That doesn't mean it's good.

Ah, so your opinion matters more than a few thousand professional critics and millions of fans? That makes complete sense...
I miss the days where we lived in a truly free country and people were allowed to actually have an opinion without being blasted by every insignificant moron with a God complex.
It's really simple, most people like the movies and we are entitled (correct use of the word) to have that opinion or any other opinion for that matter. It's people like you spewing bile at us decent folk that starts these flame fests.
Thank god that never happened in True Star Trek.
Excellent point.
Star Trek is ever changing and people hate change, it's that simple.
But I think we can all agree - the Star Trek that is really Star Trek in our head is the best Star Trek ever.
And for some random Voyager Bashing:
Battlestar Galactica was better Voyager than Star Trek Voyager.
LOL
That's kinda what I was going for here, though just the physical, I didn't even mention the cultural differences between them all.

To me? Yes.
I'm not the one getting emotional because someone on the web told me I had bad taste and who is we? Isn't it some sign of megalomania if you attempt to speak for others? God complex... yeah.. *insert laugh here*
I just wrote that you have bad taste. Is that flaming? I don't think so. It's an opinion. Cut the victim act.
Apart from that I didn't write any insult. Instead you called me an insignificant moron. But of course, *I* am the one "spewing bile at decent folk". I've rarely read anything more self-righteous than your post. Seriously.
Quote or it didn't happen. There was no single insult in my posts, apart from writing that you have bad taste.
Masses are stupid. Take from that what you will and I'm still trying to find an argument in your post. Keep trying.
Wow. Just Wow. Now we have:
- idiots with God complexes
- insignificant morons
- egotistical self absorption
You know what I find funny? You write about others using lies and conjecture, but are actually using both yourself.
You write about not wanting a flamewar, but are actually trying to start one yourself. Flamebait failed.
Where I come from we call that behavior hypocrisy.
I'm outta here.
