OP Multi-Vector-Assault Prometheus Suggestion

timelord79timelord79 Member Posts: 1,852 Arc User
When they release a T6 version of this ship, which, as we all know, is bound to happen eventually, I have a totally OP suggestion.
Picking up where the old version had each part of the ship have a slightly different role, DPS/tank/sci, how about they assign a different spec seat to each ship part?
One for command, one for intel and one for pilot while the seat would turn into a standard universal when not seperated.
And when using set consoles, each NPC driven ship section would retain some of it's spec abilities of course. ;)

So the question is this: How OP would this actually be? XD

Disclaimer: this thread is not (entirely) meant to be taken seriously. ;)

I don't think it would be OP if the hybrid seats would be ensign or max lt only and you sacrifice a huge chunk of HP in the separation process. But I don'T see why the prometheus would be treated so special - T6 versions pretty much are what their T5 counterparts were before with an added hybrid ("possibly" *wink wink* command) at lt or ltc.

So my guess is CMDR Tac, LTC Tac/Command, LTC Sci, Lt Eng, Ens Tac (possibly uni).

Because that is the MVAM's schtick. to seperate into sections with different types of gameplay options each. This would be a natural extension. No other ship has that ability. Some ships come close with switching between defensive and offensive modes like the Galaxy Refit/ odyssey and saucer sep, and the veteran and Dyson ships, but not to teh extend of the MVAM.

I hope the Ltc Sci gets replaced with a Ltc Eng as the Sci just doesn't fit this ships profile. she was designed for deep-space tactical assignments which would put the emphasis of the ship on tactical with a lean towards engineering for a little survivability. Equipped with Regenerative shielding and Ablative armour she was designed to not only punch but trade punches as well. We saw in Message in A Bottle that she had no trouble taking incoming fire from a Nebula Class, 2 Defiants, 1 Akira and a couple of D'Deridex's during the course of episode.

Does the Advaned Escort/MVAM actually change the BOFF layout on separation?

No, just the hull/shield/speed/turn stats are different. But that was from back in the day when they didn't have the tech to change boff seats on the fly. That came much later and the ship was never revisited. If they had the ability back then, I am pretty sure, they would have made one boff seat change from tac to eng to sci.

No the boff layout stays the same only hull/shields and sub system power is different depending on the component you are flying

I see. But I doubt they do that because they could have included the gimmick in all separating ships since the Dyson as well, the forum crowd suggested that a lot but they did nothing like that. They maybe now, but I can't see the Prometheus of all ships get such super special treatment.

It is the only ship that could get such a treatment, outside of Crytic designing an entirely new ship with the same ability which would be kinda pointless.
Though I could see full versatility like this coming at the cost of having to equip 3 different consoles for it with a general set bonus of course.

I hope it get both command and intel abilities with MVAM integrated in the ship (No console). I agree it should get a lt-comm eng.

The sections need to made stronger (both HP and firepower) because of the new content, equivalent or more of the Fed battleship NPC. With access to Attack patterns, FAW, TS and heals would be quite nice.

Also having control over those pets is something that the MVAE users is asking for a long time.

I mean, it's the Prometheus, it should be a bit OP

Actually, I don't think that's a bad idea at all.

People are, of course, going to cry tears of blood (as they always do, for everything in this game), but it's a unique and novel suggestion to the problem of being "trapped" in a Spec.

If they plop down a Command seat into it, as all indications currently point to, I guarantee you that it will not sell well.

Changes like that are always also a matter of "opportune timing". The Tier 5 Advanced Escort had been out for several years by the time the Dyson Destroyer was around. They could have applied the BO switching technique then, but ultimately - would they really have much to win by it?

But releasing a Tier 6 version might be an opportune time. Specialization Changes depending on what mode you fly could be a sales point.

I think the biggest hurdle would be how practical the changes are. If the slots already are partially on the base ship, you would have to change your loadout aftewards to really benefit from it.

But maybe it could be done with a simpler build... Say
    • Cmdr Tactical,
    • Lt.Cmdr Science,
    • Lt.Cmdr Engineering => Downgrades to Lt. in any separated Mode
    • Ensign Universal (or Tact) | Pilot => Upgrades to Lt. in Alpha Mode
    • Ensign Universal (or Eng) | Command => Upgrades to Lt. in Beta Mode
    • Ensign Universal (or Sci) | Intel => Upgrades to Lt. in Gamma Mode

But I doubt it is going to happen.
