New STO grass just sent my GTX 470 graphics card into the STONE AGES

It finally happened. The game is too much for my card now. Sad too, because I got this card in 2011 to play this game better. Weird that the final missions at 60 on my main, the game was doing just fine for me on ground and space. I was just taking advantage of XP weekend to rank up my low Delta. I played the updated gorn swamp interupt signal mission. Nice new swamp, but it KILLED my card. STUTTER CITY. I thought ok, I'll bare it, but then I load up the newly grassed Kuvah magh mission, DOOM. I was lowering sliders left and right, cutting off things left and right, till the world and the toons looked like the default graphics card look, and it STILL stuttered so bad, I couldnt finish the mission. Nice grass fellas, but you're KILLING cards. Sucks too, I JUST plunked down $50 for Zen to buy a T6 ship for this Delta, now it looks like I'll need to buy a new card before I come back to this game. I know I can get twice card these days for what I paid for this 470 back in 2011, $200 I think it was, but next on my list was a new mountain bike, then a PS4.

You can buy a used GTX 470 on Amazon for 61 bucks, save yourself some money on replacement.

Those are pretty much the only missions that I notice any lag on myself. :/

Ground maps with a lot of foliage tend to push GPUs, myself in particular on Regulus during The Kuvah'magh mission. Disabling shadows and dynamic lighting may help in these situations.

Some Delta Quadrant space patrols also do this. I can't enter Ram Izad without my card dropping the game to about 20 fps and jumping up 10-15 degrees.

Try going into Options and under Graphics set "Show High Detail Objects" to 'Off'; reducing the World, Terrain and Character Detail distances, or under "Display" reducing your resolution during the mission. (It keeps me from having a similar problem during missions like "Kuvagh'magh" or the Ocampa Freighter patrol in the Delta Quadrant...)

Hate to say it, even the most beast graphics card out there isn't likely to help with this. Check out over in the graphical bug report forum, and you'll see that this problem with these missions (and Risa!) have been going on since season 10. No work around seems to impact them, I'm afraid. Skip the missions, skip Risa, and save yourself the expense of buying a new card.

Had the issue with my Radeon HD 7770, and still have it with my new R7 370.
