Replacing the little B'rel ?

Served me well, but it's getting a little outdated. What I enjoy most is the BOFF flexibility on a nimble ship.

By the way, I use front dbb/1 torp build and I'm not a great pilot (sticking to faw / ts / gw ).

So what do I do now ? Get a new ship ? What ship ? Here is where I need the advice of more knowledgeable pilots. I'm really not familiar with all the new models.

Or upgrade the Brel ?

I can afford either, the only issue is that I wouldn't pay to upgrade, if I decide to give it up .

Yeah, some early bird, with a very high IQ, has been tweeting about a T6 escort/raider/warbird pack, so there's that.

If you can spare the EC you could buy an uprgade token at the exchange, dunno what they currently run for though.

Well, the are rumours about a new Tier 6 Bird of Prey coming eventually, and the rumours are probably reliable, but they won't be able to give us a time frame.

If you like nimble ships with firepower, a Pilot ship might be good for you. Or the Mat'Ha, the Intel Raptor.
But you won't get Battle Cloak with that on the KDF side.

You won't have the flexibility of the BOP. Ever again, really, there will probably be no real substitutes for a BOP in that regard until there comes a Tier 6 BOP.
The advantage of a Pilot ship might be that they have two Pilot-Hybrid seats, so you at least have the flexiblity to pick between Pilot and whatever base class the respective slot has, but it's still not the same.

But, if you just need to bridge a few weeks or months - spending money on an upgrade token would not set you back that much and get you reasonably close to Tier 6, without having to sacrifce all the stuff you already like about the BOP.

I doubt the T6 bop is far off. Some very intelligent people already salvaged pics from the T6 escort and birdy, which look really nice btw, so it probably will arrive rather soon.
July is probably unlikely but august is a solid guess, I think.

I have lost track of the ship release rythm Cryptic has adopted. Is it monthly?
    • 24 June: Battlecruiser
    • 3 June: Nandi
    • 6 May: Fed Pilot Ships
    • 17 April: Xindi Terrestrial Ships
    • 2 April: Iconic Ships
    • 10 March: Jem'Hadar Strike Fighter
    • 28 January: Vaadwaur Ships
    • 26 January: Kobali Samsar
    • 1(?) December: Winter Event Ship
    • 20 November: Intrepid Ship
So it might actually be closer to two per month, but that includes lockbox and event ship rewards.

I think that's just how things fell together. Events and their ships are part of the schedule every year around the same time by now.

Last year it was the breen raider for christmas and the DSD for the anniversary, followed by the Dyson packs and the new lockbox.
This year was the breen carrier for christmas and the samsar for the anniversary, followed by the BC pack and the new lockbox.
Same story with the summer event.
Then somwhere in between events was the fleet ship release, LoR ships, scimitar, ody, bortas, regent, patrol escort refit, etc.

The thing that really changed it up is the T6 release and cryptic's need to fill the new endgame shipyard which drastically increased the ship numbers we got since october.
And they sure aren't slowing down since we already have hints of a T6 escort-carrier bundle.

True, the exact time is based on other factors. But it also tells us how many ships they can push out in that time - it doesn't matter why these ships are made, but they still need to be made by someone. They seem to be able to do around two ship releases per month currently, maybe a bit less if we're conservative. Assuming they don't or didn't hire external resources for some of the ships, of course.

So I expect that just because there are no ship-granting events for the next few month planned, that doesn't mean they'll release less ships. And yeah, they will probably not be slowing down.
I also expect more bundles. It seems they mean good business. Normally, a single Rom or KDF ship just doesn't sell that great, but the bundle means that many people will just jump on that, for the "savings". But 3 ships for the price of 2 still bring Crpytic twice as much money as 1 ship. Of course, they also cost more to make, but if they "have" to make these ships anyway, it's still a good deal in the end.

Yeah like everyone said, the T6 BoP is imminent. Just hold out for a month or so longer. Pictures of the T6 Defiant and T'Varo have already surfaced from a certain source and they most likely belong to a 3-pack much like the battlecruisers we recently got. If you really need a change of scenery, you can try out the Nandi if you've been grinding for it. My Delta's been flying a mirror BoP for awhile and I recently switched to the Nandi. The biggest difference I had was for one, no cloak but much more hull to work with. I've got intel specialization to help with flanking already so I didn't see a vast difference from my switch. That and I could finally test out some pilot abilities.

Overall, like everyone else here, I would highly suggest waiting for the T6 BoP if you want much of the same but higher survivability.

Edit: I wanted to point out that the ship mastery for the eventual escort 3-pack is reliant on cannon scatter volley (CSV). I know you like using beams so just a heads up.

I get what you're saying, but we have it on good authority that the T6 B'rel will be included in the escort 3-pack much like how the Mogai was added in the recent battlecruiser 3-pack even though it's not a battlecruiser.

I personally use CSV myself on my BoP. Bad idea? Maybe but when your teammates are holding aggro and have caught everything in a grav well, it's the most beautiful sight in the world.

Yeah, As everyone said T6 BoP inbound. I'm more of a T'Varo person when it comes to Battle Cloaks, but you can't beat the Iconic beauty of the B'rel.

Personally with KDF I'm more of a Battlecruiser and Destroyer fan, but the Mat'Ha and Pilot Raptors are fantastic. If I got the new B'rel I'm not sure which of my 7 KDF would use it.

That said if there is a Fleet one too, it will be perfect timing as our Fleet is just about to hit t5 Shipyard.

I do prefer these three packs where ships are not carbon copies, although Pilot 9pk was money well spent.

As for the CSV rumored aspect, sometimes the trait a ship has isn't nessisarily the one you use on that ship.

Buffed with All hands on deck and the Pilot Ship Masteries is how I see myself using a BoP.

A Defiant / B'Rel / T'Varo release. That is one mean pack and all 3 have their fans. Feds & KDF have been foaming at the mouth for a T6 Defiant, BOP for a while.

Now, assuming a B'rel, that means more turn rate, and the EBC-which is a feature that I find is more problem than solution unless I'm running a Sci-bop slinging debuffs and heals and the occasional Torp spread.

I use my EBC on my T' Varo to control engagement and disengament from Battle, basically taking advantage of the quicker re-cloak, seldom using the fire from Cloak feature. I only fire from Cloak while healing, on stationary targets like Gates from 8km with torps.

Eh this has been a long standing issue with the KDF and the combination of how they handled DR with xp grindfests and gear grind of creating 2 new ship base lines of T6 c-store and T6 fleet ships that its driving a further wedge into the mix. Makes me wonder if they will put anymore KDF ships out at all. I know personally all I do these days is log in and play an FE once and then log out till next one comes out.

I just rather play a game for fun than grind these days so thats only time I have fun is playing a new mission and not overwhelming anxiety over alts and ship issues.

I currently have a Fleet Norgh T5U that is quite serviceable. I rarely PvP but it does quite well everywhere else and even in PvP is no pushover. AP DHC fore and Cutting Beam and Ancient Omni AP beam aft with the Obelisk warp core. The Captain is a TAC and his Alpha strike from cloak is a killer
*STO* It’s mission: To destroy strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations... and then kill them, to boldly annihilate what no one has annihilated before!

Well, Cryptic just officially announced the Escort Carrier Pack that includes the T6 Akira, a new Raptor, Ar'kif. The "source" was right and that's one prediction out of the way. That also means that the Defiant / B'Rel / T'Varo pack is a little bit closer.

Or they deliberately delay it in favour of the "lance-weapon"-pack (really only 1 of them is a dreadnought so I won't call the pack as such) just to prove them wrong.
I mean they already dug up the models from the escorts and people have seen them, so maybe cryptic want's to let some grass grow over it before they actually release the defaint/b'rel/t'varo.

There is not really anything to prove wrong here. All the leak gave us was stuff that was basically in the works. No fixed timeline attached to it. Just because something was found earlier doesn't mean it can or will be released early. maybe it needs some extra work, maybe the other was just discovered later, maybe marketing decided that it was better to sell the other ships first.

OR, it means a T6 BoP isn't happening and it'll be [raptor], Defiant, T'varo pack, because then they only have to do one set of stats and it's not a raider.

Not quite, because in already released T6 ship packs we have had the trend breaker. The "Battlecruiser Pack" of the Avenger/Mogh copy paste Battlecruisers. And of course, the Mogai, a straight up Destroyer-styled Escort.

Before "that site" took down info access, whatever ship packs or even individual ships they've been able to catch, has occurred. There were maybe 2-3 individual ships they didn't catch, like the D'Deridex indeed coming with the "Iconic Cruiser" pack with the Galaxy and Negh'Var. The Galaxy & Negh'Var they did find. But whatever they've found has pretty much gone in, or gone in together as they've found them.

    Pilot Ships
    Command FDCs
    Iconic Ship Pack
    Samsar/Anniversary Ship
    Battlecruiser Pack
    JHSS
    Sheshar
Escort Carrier Pack (Just officially announced yesterday)
    Excelsior

Ships they have found but have not made it in:
    Kazon Carrier (way back)
    Defiant/B'Rel/T'Varo
Ha'apax (Haakona) - With a brand new built in Lance that the T5 version never had
    Guramba
    Galaxy-X

I want to say the Ha'apax/Guramba/Galaxy-X will be part of a "Lance Pack" but not entirely sure since I can't reference them anymore.

In short, they have had a rather good track record. The only ship from long ago that hasn't gone in but they've found is the Kazon Carrier. The ship packs have been spot on, minus not catching the D'Deridex as part of the Iconic Ship Pack. They never can of course could say when the stuff is coming but they had been good in catching many things that are coming.

I'm stocking on huge piles of dilithium for the T6 B'rel and the T6 Guramba. :naughty:
The Guramba will most certainly bring a smile to my face, I always loved that ship - very uniqe. In fact, I love all the Nausicaan ships.
The B'rel is also a must have for me, I have a character created especially to command the B'rel. I wish they show us some serious love and make this the only fully universal ship - as in being able to use any of the old, new and future upcomming Boff profiles and abilities in the universal Boff slots. Should make for some real player strategizing and some pretty uniqe and wild builds. Probably will go for the entire pack with this one, since my Romulan lives and dies by the T'Varo, so a T6 T'Varo is a must have. She had the T'Varo even before LoR was released cause I bought the starter pack because of being a fan of the ship and ENT. Don't really care about the Defiant since the appearence of the Ajax, but they're giving 3 for 2 so what the heck? Will be usefull for a trait or sth.

I think a T6 BOP is coming soon. Hold out. I wish I could say the same for the K'tinga. At least the T5 Fleet variant can be upgraded to T5-U.

That statement has nothing to do with ships, but with story missions.

You may not have noticed it, but the Tier 6 Raptor Carrier has stats that are different from the FED and the ROM variants.

The B'Rel is likely to end up with a 3-cross-faction pack as well, by all indications/leaks with the T'Varo and the Defiant.
