Why are the Test Servers' forums hidden from users who are not logged in?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I don't understand what the purpose is of requiring people to sign in to see the Tribble and Redshirt forums. There are times when I just want to look up the forums to see if there has been a new patch to Tribble and what has been changed, but in order to do that I have to fully sign in to the forums. The old system did not require this.

Also, if you are not logged in and you click a link directly to a post from those forums, you will be redirected to a log in form, so there seems to be no workaround at this time.
