Hey,
In my on-going quest to get a T6 variant of an MVAE ship, I have come up with an idea!
In this Iconian war, like previous skirmishes the 3 'super powers' (for want of a better term!) have joined in an alliance.
Just for clarification, the 3 are Federation, Klingon and Romulan!
Surely if we're all working together, sharing technology then we should have one ship that ALL 3 factions can use - all developed by 3 factions, taking the best of each and combining it into something special.
In an interesting twist, I was thinking about this last night, and my challenge to the devs/designers is to create such a ship, however have it in MVAE configuration, 3 parts like the Prometheus but design it so that each piece is designed with each faction in mind.
So you would have:
1) Fed
2) Klingon
3) Rom
Each one can be piloted and each one gives a small gain depending on the faction, so if I were a Klingon, piloting my Klingon vector, it would benefit me a bit more than say, a Romulan piloting the Klingon vector.
I think this has the making of one hell of a ship, open to all. Looks while important aren't so important as form, so as long as its packing the right stats, I could forgive something that isn't so easy on the eye as I appreciate combining all three design factions into one is a herculean task.
STO, you up for it?

Setting aside all the faction flavor stuff (I won't even go into it), each faction uses very different engineering styles in what they do. Consider the engineering differences, from metallurgy to power sources to design philosophies. Fed stuff is high-tech as all hell but tends to be a little twitchy because of it, and has redundant redundancies and plenty of creature comforts. Klingon gear looks to be more rugged than a Russian rifle built on tried-and-true technologies and planning for a very long service life with upgrades along the way. Romulans live and die by their cloaks and probably design everything around a balance of extreme stealthiness and their melodramatic sense of aesthetics. Whatever an engineer from one faction thought was a great idea, the other two would just roll their eyes. Nothing would ever get done.
Of course, if the Cryptic artists feel up to the challenge, more power to them.
So just for fun, we'd have a Patrol Escort for a saucer (let's use the Maelstrom), a Raptor for the upper hull, and a heavily modified Dhelan for the lower hull. When split, the AI sections default to Faction weapons and certain torpedoes: Fed section gets phasers and photons, KDF section gets Disruptors and quantums, and Romulan section gets Plasma and Plasma torps.
It will require 2 Warp Cores and 1 Singularity Core due to slight engineering incompatibility. However, while docked, the Singularity is the standard core, but does not have the 40 Subsystem power limitation due to supplementary power from the other 2 Warp Cores. Base bonus when docked is 50 in each Subsystem by default, but with a higher maximum cap of 150 (ONLY when docked). Beyond that, both of the Warp Core bonuses do not apply while docked. However, the unique abilities of Warp Cores (such as Delta Rep's teleport-capable core) do work even while docked.
Once separated, the Cores default to standard values (50 with max of 125 for Warp Cores and 40 with max of 125 for Singularity), and the abilities of the other unique Cores are disabled (the core affixed to the section you control remains active, with their bonuses becoming active).
It will be a T6 with a typical Destroyer-like 4/3 setup, use a Triple Vector console, and have full access to all Faction skins (including Mirror, just for fun). In addition, it will also be able to use consoles of the ships they're amalgamated from, such as the Patrol Escort's Nadeon bomb for Feds, or the Dhael's Singularity Inverter for Romulans. It will retail for an extra 1000 Zen compared to normal T6 Zen ships, due to the potential value of using up to 3 different unique Cores on one ship at the same time (for their bonus ability) as well as their ability to use some Faction-specific consoles, and be available to all factions. A Fleet version will be available with an alternate skin.
