Do I have enough time to accquire the New Ferengi Warship if I start the project now?

Basically I have decided that I would like to start the Summer reputation project to get the new Ferengi Ship, but Im not sure if I still have enough time until the event ends to complete it, Does anyone have an idea if it is still possible

Only if you spend Lobi to buy Favors to fill in or work around the 20 hour reset clock as there are 22 days left; three days short.

you need to run the floater event 25 times and it has a 20 hour cooldown. And as the Summer event ends on 16 July there isn't enough time to get it unless you are prepared to get some lockbox keys and open lockboxes to get Lobi crystals to buy the token packs from store to make up the shortfall.

You don't need an "idea", you just need to do the math.
This assumes that nothing gets extended because of today's extended downtime due to maintenance.

If they extend it for one day - still short by two. If you are not going to see this through with playing around the 20 hour reset and/or buying Favors with Lobi, do not bother slotting it. It will be deleted at the end of the event.

The problem with trying to rely on that route is that Cryptic is implementing new tokens for each year now. The Nandi is only taking 2015 Summer Event Tokens. Next year will be different and you can bet that even the use of Lobi to get tokens will be for the new version. The Lobi Exchange to get current Event Tokens disappear when the Event ends. On top of that, the previous event ships have not come up on the Event Projects either. No Risian Corvettes, Luxury Cruisers in 2015's Summer Event for the ones that never got it before. You can expect the same to happen next year for older Event ships.

In short, if you don't get it during this Summer Event, you'll be regretting it.

At the end of this year's Lohlunat Festival, all uncompleted Lohlunat Festival Reputation projects will be deleted.

Do not slot it for next year, it will be deleted and you will lose all progress. If you can't/won't spend lobi to finish it, your only hope is if they extend the time limit. Decide for yourself if you want to run the mission anyway and hope they extend it, or just forget about the ship as a lost cause.

Yeah, hope Cryptic extend it, this maintenance is taking its time. Hopefully a big improvement for us when we get back ingame

You're only a couple days short, if you ran it today, and every single day until the end, you probably wouldn't have to buy very many keys to make up the difference.

It's just up to you if you feel it's worth it or not. But as other have pointed out, this will be the one and only opportunity to acquire this ship, so if you decide to go for it and make up the difference with Lobi, you would need to start right away to save as much money as possible.

So...to sum up. The answer is yes. If you use a little lobi.
  • takfeltakfel Member Posts: 238 Arc User
I'd spend the lobi. I slotted the ship project on day one because it looks interesting. This seems to be the only cruiser-like ship with a pilot seat. If you like beam boats, this could be a good one. It even has a commander tactical seat. I am very excited to see how this one flies.

Cryptic has already said the old Risian ships were retired. That's why the Corvette and Luxury Cruiseliner aren't available this year. So if you didn't get them before you can't get them now. Although if you started this year's event with the project for 1 or both previous ships already slotted you can use the new 2015 vouchers to finish it and get the old ships, but that's the only way.

Also Cryptic has clearly said that after the summer event ends all event ship projects will be automatically cancelled and removed. So there's no slotting this year's ships, or having a previous ship slotted, and finishing it next year. They went the route of get-it-now-or-never-get-it-ever.

I'm expecting the Breen ships from the winter event to be retired with only the new ship available and also the project being automatically removed after the event ends so you'll never be able to finish it.

My concern for this is that for every event ship there is always a few players who only had 1 or 2 days left but something in life prevented them from playing and finishing the project to get the ship. So this means that you can't let real life get in the way. Sure they give us more than enough time to get the ships but unexpected things do happen and it's wrong to punish people for it.

So what's the solution? Make it just available all year?

If it's supposed to be a reward for participating in an event, it must have a cut-off point. You can question that it's neccessary to have time-limited rewards, but in the context of time-limited rewards, you can't escape the neccessity of a cut-off point.

An old friend came in from out of quadrant. Someone stole my floater. There was an subspace anomaly. An ion storm. Borg! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO Q! Please, let me have the Nandi Battleship!" [/Elwood Jake]

If it's seriously important to you, you can still go the lobi shortcut option. That may cost you lots of Energy Credits, Dilithium or Zen, but it's an option.

I was talking about them removing the project for the ship automatically after the event ends, thus preventing people from ever finishing what they started. Until they made this change if you didn't finish the project in time you were still able to finish it the next year as well as any new ship they came out with. This will prevent people who for whatever reason weren't able to finish it from ever finishing it. Like I said, for some people unexpected things in life happen and they aren't able to log into the game at all, which throws out the whole "use lobi to get it".

Personally I shouldn't have a problem getting the ship, but you never know what may happen in life that can prevent you from getting it now. And for all you know the following year nothing will come up and you would have been able to finish what you started or get what you missed the year before due to real life stuff. But right now there's a large brushfire somewhere and my family is worried it may head our way and we'll have to evacuate. If that happens it means I won't be able to keep playing the game, at least not for a while.

And there was no need for the sarcastic B.S. or attitude. You come off as though you would say something like "too bad" if someone wasn't able to get the ship because their freaking house burned down.

Yeah, I slotted the project, played once and couldn't be bothered to grind...but I did use Lobi on Tribble to get the ship right away and I just didn't think much of it, so it can sit in my unfinished event projects, just in case I change my mind one day :-)

didn't I read somewhere that any uncompleted projects are to be removed at the end of each event from now on?

I would play it safe and try to complete the project by making use of the 20hr cooldown if I was you.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Did anyone's house burn down? If it did, is a Risa ship even of any interest to the player in question anymore, doesn't he have so many other really critical and serious problems in his life right then that he'd look forward to the day where his biggest problem would be not getting a special event ship?

Also, you should brush of your Blues Brother knowledge. That, or I need to use more smileys.

Oh, that's also a neat option, at least for subscribers (I think F2P can't use Tribble). Check it on Tribble and figure out if it's even worth bothering.

Of course, for collectors it's always worth it.

One of the earlier repliers found that info. Yes, it's going to be deleted when the event ends.

No, I'm F2P...anyone can use Tribble. I'd just opened some lock boxes on the Holodeck, collected and not spent the Lobi. I always made the mistaken of spending WAY too much on Zen to get the Lobi to get the Event ships right away...this time I wanted to make sure that I actually liked it, but I didn't. With Tribble, it's like how you can go to Drozana and get the rep gear for free...just go to that console on the left of the main room :-)

It was also fun to use Tribble with the (now long forgotten) Nukara expansion...you could test the battlezone and then got a free special Tribble for doing so.

Thanks for all your responses everyone, I have decided to not go for the ship. Now that I have had a chance to have a real good look at it, it doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Please remember that any uncompleted projects will be removed at the end of the event.

This was mentioned in this blog:

I'm not sure if I'm going to make it in time, just because of family things that have come up that are more important than a video game, but I am going to try and get as many as I can, and then make up the difference opening lockboxes for lobi.

Kind of a first world problem.

I know everyone situation is different but, I guess I'm just a 'filthy casual 1000+day vet with a subscription'
