Does anyone have any information on running STO under Windows 10? I realize it hasn't been released yet but was just curious if others were going to upgrade at release or wait to see what happens.
I haven't tried it, but there was a thread a while back where several people running the Windows 10 Preview were able to run STO without any problem.
It shouldn't be a problem, but we'll have to wait until final release to know for sure. From what I know so far, it works under the current build of Windows 10.
I can only assume it should work. I mean STO is a rather recent program and I can't imagine 10 being so much different from 8 so six year old programs don't work anymore. I thought win 10 is just 8.1 with old functionalities reintegrated and some obnoxious SIRI-schlick which I can hopefully disable.

as the majority of the players are on either win 7 or 8.1 and most will likely take the free upgrade when its available cryptic better make sure sto does run under win 10 or they are likely to loose an awful lot of the player base when it happens.
as you can choose to install win 10 at a later time then personally I will be installing win 10 on my desktop first so I can test sto and see if its ok, only then will I also install it on my laptop.
to be honest though I don't think it will be a problem as I have read somewhere of players who have tested sto on the test builds of windows 10 and have run it without any issues.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
This is great! thanks people. Yeah i have the little 'upgrade to 10' button on my desktop. I've already reserved it but it's nice that we can install when we want to instead of being forced.

I am running Win10 on 2 laptops - one runs STO through Steam and the other through Arc.
Both are working fine.
Windows is only out as a Technical Previews for testers and is released to the general public at the end of July.
Assuming that driver support is available for your particular cards (audio and video), Windows 10 shouldn't keep you from playing STO. I haven't tried it in the Tech Preview VM I'm running because of lack of driver support, but with decades of Windows experience to draw from--nothing leaps up as an obstacle based on my experience with the Tech Preview.
(I think I'll go try some things now. I just got some ideas. )

I see a youtube video regarding this and top of the list was old hardware that might not be supported, basically if the pc you are using didn't originally have at least windows 7 but was upgraded from xp or vista then installing windows 10 might be a bad idea.
Its a new version of Windows. Of course it won't work right. Since when does a Windows launch work correctly prior to the release of SP1?
There hasn't been an SP1 for any version of Windows since Windows 7.
Um Windows 8.1 was basically a Windows 8.0 SP1 no matter how MS would like to portray it.

But did pretty much nothing when it comes to software compatibility. Because nothing really needed to be made.
The challenging jump was Vista and its security model. It affected a lot of software and drivers. Afterwards, everyone knew the hard way what they needed to do, and did that.
It doesn't look as if Windows 10 will make any significant under-the-hood changes here. The most significant might be the new DirectX version, but that's backwards compatible and you need to actively do something to use the new features. (Considering how long the DirectX11 adaptation took Cryptic, I would expect this to take a while before it affects STO.)
