Faster upgrade of gear is an excellent improvement

I just want to say this: Removing the wait times from the upgrade system was a very good idea that has certainly improved my gaming fun with STO. Thank you, devs. :)

yep, this is a good thing, now they must remove the pvp(all) and dmg mods from the r&d system and the upgrade system. i'm sick of these useless mods.

I believe the PvP mods are gonna be removed soon, Borticus mentioned it in a PvP forum post some time ago... sorry, I'm too lazy to look it up.

Yes, it is most convienient to not have to wait hours for an upgrade to finish. Thank you STO Devs. :D

Although, I'm wondering why Cryptic would remove a dil-sink like that (no more 'Finish Now' button for upgrades).

Now if only we could get Cryptic to address the Random [Mod] madness that is still prevalent in the R&D/Upgrade system...

I'm tired of random anything in the crafting system. Other than the basic item being the only control I have over it. Let ME assign what traits I want something to have! Maybe make it more difficult or lengthy to make something more specific, or make the mats harder to obtain or something, but random "inventions" in crafted items are frakkin annoying.

Captain: Alright Jeffreys, I want you to make an Anti Proton Array, I want you to synch up the targeting matrix, and upgrade the plasma conduit connection to allow a higher ability to overload without throwing off other systems.

    Jeffreys: Yes Sir Captain sir!

    4 hours later -

Captain: Alright Jeffreys, have you finished the project?

Jeffreys: Well Captain, I considered your orders and decided instead to make it so that it can't handle the overload stress, but it has extra targeting capacity, I also gave it a higher output overall so it's kind of like having more overload, but a lot less and over more shots. Then I gave it a special synch to allow it to hit allied ships better in simulated combat!

    Captain: *facepalms* Good. Work. Jeffreys...

Thats a very crude way of thinking. Might be exactly what the devs though when implementing the pvpmods.

Yeah, let them manualy choose mods,so that CrtD+Pen become only used mod in the game...and rare/expensive weapons with CrtD

[DMG] at least does something in PVE, whereas anything PVP is a waste and might as well not be a mod at all. Also I vaguely remember something about buffing [DMG] at some point so there is that.

Just to be clear, YES it is the weakest modifier but I take over anything [PVP] any day.

balance? between Rage&Despair. these mods are totally useless not only for us and for them; remove this TRIBBLE and more players will be interested by the r&d system. more players using r&d = more dilithium used = more zen bought = bingo for cryptic

nope, nothing: dmg = 10 dps, even with dmgx4 for all your weapons, you have wasted your time, you dil etc

People will be interested if they make a working crafting system first.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

indeed, but if these mods are kept, nothing will change. who want a weapon with pvp or dmg?

3 weeks, that i try to change the weapons of my fed sci captain. she uses beams and i want to change for dbb (plasma); 3 weeks of crappy mods. only 1 weapon with crtdx2 crth (not bad), i upgrade this weapon, and dmg is added. finally, i left the game for this day.

i don't understand why this is not 1 of their priorities.

To wander back over to the original idea this thread was made upon, I was surprised when the Finish Now button did not appear during Upgrading some weapons and gear for one of my Ground Team. Surprised enough I thought I did something incorrectly.

Removing a Dil sink and a time gate at the same time was a nice gesture on the parts of the Dev Team. Yeah, both of them were small but they were annoying. Lots of people around here will call out the Devs on any mistake, yet they will not say anything positive about a change such as this one anywhere.

    Metrics.

A bunch of people like myself log out when you take our gear away instead of spending dilithium on new gear or hitting that "Finish Now!" button. That means fewer people playing your game. People are more likely to pay the longer they're playing, and are more likely to stay the more people are in game to play with. Basically people were calling it a night because Cryptic decided to stick their toys in limbo for three hours for absolutely no other reason than to try and wring more dilithium out of them, using a system that already soaks them.

It was a terrible idea to begin with.
