When checking to see if sets are being completed for bonuses on the ship, hang your cursor over equipment in the console slots if things look weird. The game likes to show non-set completion with stuff in the weapon/equipment slots at times. But if a set has a console, it typically shows properly there for set completion.

I've also notices some but not all space sets display the wrong info on the ground, but are correct in space. While others show everything properly.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth

I have noticed the same strange things for all my consoles sets. I have quite a few a these sets. For all of them especially those that include weapons as part of the set only the consoles shows the compete set as complete with no dark areas, however, if I pass my cursor over the weapon it shows dark areas that indicate there are missing item. This strange thing applies to almost all of my Set items. Only 1 or 2 parts of the set will show that you have all items equipped and they are the console items that indicate this. For sets that are Deflectors, Engines, Shields and Cores usually any of them will show whether there is one missing. This is very common to me as I have sets installed that may have a piece that belongs to some other set. I have on the other hand ships that are equipped with no changes. They are designed to fight its way in all battle scenarios. Of course, they do defend themselves better against certain enemies, but still adequately well against others. This I devised because of the problems with the Load Out System that I cannot trust (due to countless experiences) because the 'load out' changes or it does not appear as it should, progressively more as the Load Out is older and rarely used. And with the usual ships I use with the same loadout I still have to check whether everything is as it should be with a few instances here and there that I have to fix occasionally. Otherwise, these few ships can go fight the Borg and the Tholians with not problems in any scenario where it it the Hive or the Invasions. Only the Iconians take a bit longer and sometimes the Voth only because their ships take longer to destroy. Having the need to do this, I have adopted a system that give me some forms of insurance when my 'chips are down' to survive a massive blast from a Borg ship, or an Iconian Dreadnaught, recover and finish them off. I normally play alone as I am located based on a GMT far distant to most of my fleet, but whenever I happen to play with some friends, I normally pick on a ship that complements the mode of battle of the other ships which are normally Warbirds or Birds of Prey. When this happens I usually pick a sturdy ship with beam weapons. Although the weapons of the BoP are stronger they are not constant, not because they can not be constant but because they can not be surrounded by enemy ships and therefore have to swoop into the enemy, fire with everything they have, and maneuver for another pass following a prearranged lines of swoops depending on how many of them there are. Even if the ships on our side are our Romulan brothers they still cannot fire a constant barrage because their fire power is strongest when borne just as the ship decloaks and then after the pass cloak again and repeat. While this is going on my ship is firing continuously at the enemy whilst traveling at full throttle. In this process many ships are destroyed initially tha smaller ships, but all of them have their defenses weakened to the point that my buddies that come into the frey destroy what ever is there that is about to blowup or weaken much further what remains after their salvo is finished off by my ship now having much less of them to handle and more hits are made to fewer shipe. The right application of Beam and Cannons in different ships make the best combination finish the enemy at the shortest time. It not only a matter of whether to use beams ro cannons but just as important and sometimes more important is the type of ship, because battles are fought by groups taking a certain role in the battle. The idea that you can have all these tanks run through territory smashing everything in its path is a delusion. You may start with it to gain a strategic advantage but sooner than later the enemy has an antidote to your poison and everything boils down to basics.

Oops I believe I have gone over the scope of the subject matter. I will edit this comment to just the pertinent points in a few days as I have to go.
