Fleet vet ships

chalpenchalpen Member Posts: 2,207 Arc User
Question: does it require a lot of time and resources to create fleet ships?

Not being a game developer and have been out of the programming profession for about 10 years, it seems to be rather easy.
Almost...macroable.
It would, imho, take longer to move on to another ship, then come back to the fleet version later on.

Why did they not make a t6 fleet version of the vet ships right away, I wonder
Should I start posting again after all this time?

I assume ships have a predefined release schedule so as to not overwhelm someone's purchasing budget. That is why new Lockboxes only come out every Quarter. It feels less intrusive to spend $25.00 every month rather then $50.00 this month and then nothing next month.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I will buy the fleet modules for a fleet version of the Romulan very ship when it becomes available.

    You are correct.
But the fleet version cost nothing to a vet. Even if you never log in, in 30 days the stipend will cover it.

It might not be difficult (depending on how many and how monstrous the databases they have to work with are), but it's likely that the new Vet ships are to ensure that their changes are working before copy/pasting/editing new entries for their Fleet Versions, as well as seeing how well the masses accept the revamped console and abilities.

I mean, we have some players who can't find their old Veteran ships (which were moved down to rank 40) at the Ship Requisition Officer and some insisting that they don't see it despite being 1000-day Vets or Lifers.

So there might be some bugs affecting a few players that need to be ironed out before releasing the Fleet version. It's a little different than just releasing the Andromeda/Negh/D'K and their Fleet version same-day, due to the check code for Veterans.

Another possibility is maybe introducing a new Fleet skin to go along with the Fleet versions (which would really be a nice extra if they did so), and that it might not be ready yet (what with needing to code the firing hardpoints, among other things).

Even in your example it costs them 30 days of waiting, so the time has some value. And sometimes the anticipation and waiting builds wanting in a way that immediate access does not.

    Something, too...

It's possible that the Fleet T6 vet ships could be tied to the updates to the fleet system, likely coming in Season 10.5 (per parsing Geko's last P1 interview).

Granted, they just unceremoniously dropped the Fleet T6 ships into the current shipyard, so it's also possible they'll just throw these into the Spire shipyard...

Only briefly played with the Manticore last night, perfect for the new crafted Phasers I just finished Upgrading.

The Dineas, well they made what I think is the sexiest ship in the game even sexier.

The Duvqu', not very fond of the Front/Saucer will have to play with. KHG/JEM shields fix most sins.

At any rate would much rather use these than the Kobali ship for free LTC/Command.

Really looking forward to putting these ships through their paces.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth
