Roleplay Mode for Weapons

So I have noticed that Antiproton seems to be the clear choice for the most effective beam type but after getting them I miss three things that phasers offered.

1. The warm orange glow
2. The familiar sound effect
3. The 'canon' feel of using the federation's weapon types.

I kind of suggest an RP mode where all your equipped weapons appear and sound faction standard; Disruptors and Photons for Klingons, Plasma for the Romulons and Phasers and Photons/(Quantum?) for Fed

You seem to be able to turn off most other graphical effects like shiny shields or borgification and it can still be seen what 'type' of mountings you have, if not the energy type.

Or just stop being a lazy DPSing fu*k and just get the actual weapon types dummy

Or you could just not worry about the 2% difference if you're going for the RP look.

    Tacs are overrated.

If that was the way the game was structured the whole way down I could embrace it. But when we have all these options to buy endgame versions of ships from Kirk's time or upgrade a weak patrol craft like the Saber to capital ship class or to turn off the graphics that go with special shields or the assimilation of borg technology. Along with mixing and match parts of our ships and so on so forth..

I don't see why a mode to use the racial colour scheme and and sound effects for weapons is asking too much. It's an MMO and if you give a weapon 2% more damage then calling it a choice is to deny the core idea that numbers = progress.

It's not even a drop based system as far as I can tell. I'm not going to have the slightly inferior weapon type I prefer drop and have 'Well I can use it til the 'better' weapon drops and no-one else needs it" i'm gonna be asked straight up if I want to do less or more damage and that's.. turning what should be a feeling of progression into an element of dissatisfaction whatever I choose.

I never cared about dpsing. Too tedeous to start and too boring once you get there. With non-dps you get to bleed your enemies slow and have a lot more fun. DPS ruins the fun.

There used to be a command to change your weapon colours... but it was removed for some silly reason.
