desired traits for upgrade components?

I see it mentioned often about selling lower level loot gear for folks to upgrade.....

Is there a list of chart anywhere for which are the most desirable "traits" for various components?

Pen and then Crtd, Crtd, Crtd, Crtd, Crtd, Crtd, Crtd, ...
Craft mk 2 weapons in bulk and sell those with Pen + Crtd x2 or Crtd x3.

The value of CritD is overstated, honestly. Critical to the value of it is crit chance.

A simple example, if your crit chance is 0, what is more valuable, critD or critH? The answer is critH because critD is worth even less than a DMG modifier with a 0% crit rate, because, obviously, you are not critting anything so crit damage never applies. Of course base crit chance is 2.5% in this game.

Some quick algebra shows me you need a crit chance of >15% for critD to be worth more than critH on your weapons, which seems likely to be right, but the whole situation is certainly more complex than just those two modifiers. It is also different for tac captains due to APA.

Now, I think most optimal builds are going to have that, but most builds people fly probably aren't actually close to that point yet. And whether they can get there, and how long that will take is something to consider when buying and upgrading weapons.

Things with more CritD than less will probably sell very well all the same, though, because most people don't bother looking at even a little math behind it, and DPS nuts don't stress it, if they know it at all.

What you can sell to a vendor right away is anything with DMG or PVP mods on it. Those are terrible under any circumstances. ACC isn't useless in PVE, but it isn't really wanted either. It is more useful for PVP, but the market for that is tiny. ACCx3 might sell though. Pen is desirable, but other things like over, rapid, thrust, snare, apparently not so much.

So you're looking for CritD, pen, critH mods, probably in that order, though the actual order should probably be different for most people, they just don't know it. One ACC might be acceptable to people, but I think it is safe to say it is less desirable than the others.

While true, its not really hard to get >15% CrtH on space or ground (Vulnerability locators and SROs, plus various universal consoles/ gambling device, lucky-trait, 2pc-Undine and depending on the value of your CrtH Delta-Kit), thats why CrtD is favored for weapons (and on ground for the armor).

It would be unwise to invest in none-crtd (+pen)-weapons if you want to upgrade the whole ship later (upgrade in terms of dps, not R&D), or you would have to buy some things a second time with different modifiers. Not focussing on crtd but crth and in lesser extend dmg on weapons is only wise for chars you just want to make a few missions in their entire lifetime, e.g. Farmchars which should only get contraband/R&D-Mats/Rep-Dilithium and thus only see very limited combat action.

That is what you have to weigh. Are you going to go for SROs and locators or not? The expense for those is not at all trivial. Is that in the cards at all? Is that so far down the road it probably isn't a problem to upgrade a second set? The first set could easily become a hand-me-down set to alts in that situation.

Are you going for a science build or some other build that doesn't have the tac slots to get there? Or maybe you don't want Romulans on your ship for RP reasons, so how do you build with that limitation?

You can't assume that everyone builds ships the same way to the same peak with the same equipment options, and that is the issue when everyone just reflexively says "moar critD!!" There is math behind this that is left unsaid which is a problem.

I'm personally running 4 SROs on my fed TAC with crtdx3 ap beams... Kinda nifty... Get around 33% crit chance... :)

As for the op... Crtdx2 pen sells like lemonade in a hot hot hot summer

Yeah, [CrtD]x2 [Pen] would be a solid choice.

However, I'm liking [CrtD]x2 [Over], really like the occasional free Beam Overload attack, might not be quite as consistant as [Pen] but I like it. :P

    Edit:

Although... I don't mix [Over] with BFAW, so I'm not entirely sure if they 'play nice' with each other...
