I was noting the patch notes' reference to the prisoner uniform which players don't have access to as far as I know.
And I had an idea for a Delta Recruit style event.
The idea is that characters recruited during the event get a prologue to recruitment in 2405 where they are a prisoner at 4028 being offered a second chance and a shot at the Academy or a new life on the Virinat colony. Slight differences between the factions (especially for Klingons whose attitudes would be different) but you begin as a prisoner offered a second chance, Tom Paris style. Maybe Tom is the one who makes the offer for Feds, coming full circle.
You get a new subplot (DR-style) and DR style weekly unlock bonuses as well as an account unlock of the prison jumpsuit when you hit 50.
As an added bonus during the event, species restrictions for factions go away during the event. Temporarily, you can roll any species for any faction, since you begin as a prisoner offered a new life. KDF Bajoran/Human/Vulcan/Caitian, etc., Fed Gorn/Orion/etc, et. al. go away again after the event.

I doubt most people are minmaxers but, even so, I imagine many people would roll multiple alts, which would make it a bigger success than the DR event.

Game population: 73% fed, 16% Klingon, 11% romulan.
I doubt this is changing anytime soon. I doubt anything will ever change it significantly..
Sounds like some interesting content could be made for something like this.
Would be nice if you were starting off right after the 4028 episode and at that missions required level.
I found grinding out my DR was a bit much.. from level 1-60
Was STO episode overload for me.
Of course you'd be able to go back and complete the previous arcs for gear etc.
But you wouldn't "have" to.
I think that would be a little more enjoyable. And less grindy.
