I was chatting with a few friends and we cooked up a few ideas for a theoretical Defiant revamp. i hope you enjoy our suggestions.
The defiant is described as "Overgunned and overpowered" and our aim was to try and make the ships play style reflect it.
Side note - How about a Lt char thats truely universal. And specialty can sit in it.
3 set. 2 console quad cannons.
2 parts: She will shake herself apart: When in system space the console can be clicked to double again the ships speed. However it takes 1-25% damage ever three secconds, the faster she goes the more damage she takes.
(This should be fun, useful, but not too game breaking with the typical limited heals an escort has.)
3 parts; Tough little ship : When your shields are depleated you ship becomes immune to every other hit it takes for 30 seconds or until shields are restored on all facings.
(so you could ignore that warp fore and then take a little pling of damage or ignore a light phaser tickle and then eat a plasma torpedo. useful but a but too random to lean entirely on.
Thats that basics, its too late to write more so..what do you think?
Precedent for T6 versions of T5 canon ships has been well set. But that precedent shows us that what we can expect are: updated stats for T6 quality, including mastery and a starship trait; updated boff seating, including one hybrid boff in the Lt or LtCommdr range (no hybrid commander seat); none of the new powers that the pure spec ships have, so no intel powers for the Pathfinder and no command powers for the Galaxy, D'Deridex and Negh'var, which means if pilot spec is what a T6 Defiant will have we won't have any pilot powers; same weapon load outs for the most part, so T6 Defiant will likely have 4/3 weapons rather than 5/2; some kind of set bonus with a T6 console or MAYBE a weapon. A lot of people - myself included - want to see a forward dual quantum torpedo launcher, because when the Defiant launched torpedoes on the show they tended to fire two at a time from both the starboard and port torpedo launchers. That could combine with the Sao Paulo's quad phasers and the T5 Defiant retrofit's cloaking device to give a nice set bonus - your guess is as good as mine.
More likely though it'll be a gimmick console. Try not to get your hopes up and you'll never be disappointed.
I hate to admit it, but the Phantom Intel Escort IS the T6 Defiant... it has an integrated cloak which doesn't take up a slot, and even a phaser lance, which i think is weird for a Defiant to have, but it's there.
T6 Defiant is actually coming out for real. Can't say why I'm telling you this as it'd be ToS breaking (I think), but it's happening.
I need to get to him. I can't just leave him out there alone. - Sometimes you've got to makes sacrifices, Lara. You can't save everyone. - I know about sacrifices. - No, you know about loss. Sacrifice is a choice you make. Loss is a choice made for you. - I can't choose to let him die, Roth.

We know they are going to do an Iconic Escort Pack - just as they did the Iconic Cruiser Pack a couple of months back. It is no big secret.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I'm speculating here, but I figure we'll get that hybrid commander seat when they (re)release the flagships.
The Odyssey, Bortas and ... I guess Scimitar will likely be the first ships to have a commander-hybrid seat, maybe they'll mix them up even? Give a command-hybrid to the Odyssey, a pilot-command to the Bortas, and an Intel-commend to the Scimitar?
Edit: I had a feeling after I'd posted this that it had already been done, and I've just checked the stats to the Eclipse and see that it has, so yeah, completely discard this message of mine.
Maybe then, the re-release of the flagships will offer something truly unique; dual-commander seats? Followed by two Lieutenant seats and an Ensign to fill the slots.

TAKE THAT BACK.
:P
I'll be happy to switch-off between the Phantom and T6 Defiant, if/when said Defiant is released. It does make some sense for the Defiant to have the Pilot seat, but it also makes sense for it to be Intel-related... so, I understand the comparison/confusion.

Nothing represents a Utopian Future of Exploration and Discovery quite like Ugly TRIBBLE warships with huge cannons and dual torpedo launchers.

What are they supposed to use against the Borg? Harsh language?

No, softly-spoken words: "Sleep, Data..."

Thats were the realism comes in. Not everyone is as friendly as you are. And unfortunately, those unfriendly "neighbours" can be quite powerful.
Something like "flower power" vs. tanks and MGs, I think there are quite some occurences in history where you can see that tanks and MGs usually have the upper hand in those disputes of opinion.

Oh be quiet. The Defiant was a perfectly reasonable response for Starfleet to make post-Wolf 359.
I'd love to see all the Quad Cannons revamped...maybe [Acc]x2 and [CrtD]x2...should make a lot of people happy...decent stats for both PvE and PvP...anything would beat the [Dmg]x4
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

"African-American pancake" Jesus dude it's the 21st century get onboard already!

Yep! It actually represents seven seasons of that "Utopian Future of Exploration and Discovery."
(Well, five seasons, if you want to get technical. :P)
Having flown the Pilot ships, it is my hope that cryptic brake the precedent set by other T6 ship releases.
I don't want a T6 Defiant with a hybrid seat. I want a T6 Defiant with Pilot manoeuvres.
Stock bridge officer powers are fine for the defiant, but double tap manoeuvring in space is something I cant give up, even for one of my favourite starship hulls.

World Peace in real life is likelier to happen than this.
If the ship isn't a Full Specialization Ship, i.e. a ship with a Cmdr Hybrid Station, it does not have the special perks of that Specialization Ship. Examples:
INTEL
Eclipse, Qib, Phantom, Scryer, Faeht have Cmdr Hybrid Stations and have Gather Intel mechanics, the unique feature of Intel Ships.
Guardian, Matha, Aehlal, Pathfinder, Intel Sheshar, JHSS do not have Cmdr Hybrid Stations and do NOT have Gather Intel mechanics.
COMMAND
The 3-pack of Command FDCs for each faction have Cmdr Hybrid Stations and have Inspiration mechanics, the unique feature of Command Ships.
The Command Sheshar, Astika, Samsar, Galaxy, D'Deridex, Negh'Var do not have Cmdr Hybrid Stations and do NOT have the Inspiration mechanics.
PILOT
The 3 pack of Pilot Ships for each faction have Cmdr Hybrid Stations and have Pilot Maneuvers, the unique feature of Pilot Ships.
The newer Xindi Escort from the latest Lockbox does not have a Cmdr Hybrid Station and does NOT have the Pilot Maneuver mechanics.
A rare few ships have limited Specialization ability access to two: The JHSS, the new Xindi Cruiser. Neither has a Cmdr Hybrid Station, neither has any of the unique features of any of the Full Specialization Ships. No Gather Intel, No Inspiration, definitely no Pilot Maneuvers.
And final nail is this: NONE of the lower tiered ships converted to T6 have ever been a Full Specialization Ship. No Cmdr Hybrid Station. No special feature from that Full Specialization Ships.
[Dmg] is the worst, worst mod you can have on a weapon. When guys get 1 [Dmg] mod on crafting or on upgrading, the item is a failure and its worth on the exchange reflects this failure. The only thing worse than [Dmg] is any of the [PVP___] mods.
they will surely make the ENS tac a LT. uni.
Now if they made the LTC tac hybrid that'd be pretty cool, but giving hybrid seat to LT eng or LT uni would gimp the ship AGAIN.
Thing is I'm starting to like Icarus' aesthetics more.than the Defiant...

I wish people wopuld realize this at some point. That's why they are called "specialist ships".
Even with all the cross-class ships and lockbox mania, these basic archetypes still determine the basic ship layout.

Oh no...I think it's time for your reprogramming again...
I'll put DS9 on Netflix. Someone get some the duck tape.
Oh, don't remind me that. External hard drive broke up: I lost all TNG, Enterprise and half DS9 (S5 and beyond). Only Voyager was spared from that disaster.
Anyway, Icarus looks really cool bra
I'll see what T6 Defiant will bring us, but I have already a FT5U Defiant already, I'm not so excited with rebuying it again...

4eng, 2sci 5 tac consoles +1sci for fleet version (t6 retrorevamps are released as t6 with a t6fleet version)
and please give it 5/2 weapon layout. (its not mandatory but i really would like it. or make the dual q launcher be a built in (burt upgradeable) fixed additive fore wepon please.
i really EXPECT this time, that it has a dual rapid fire quantum torpedo launcher, in set with the quad cannons!
the launcher itself should have "rapid fire proc" and crtd/crth/dmg
i expect the 2pc setbonus to "enable hy rapid fire mode on hy/spr abilities instead of spread and hy"
the dual quantum rapid launcher itself should, in exchange for its coolness and increased torpedo flight-speed, NOT be able to hy/spread otherwise. every hy/spd enables a "rapid fire mode" if 2pc bonus is available, additionally to the standard launcher that only has it as procchance if no set is used.
i really expect this or similar i dont want another console, i want the correct canon weapon animated setup for the defiant finally! (after 3 versions of it ... the 4th should be complete)
trait: decoy: increased dmg/flank dmg basing on negative hull left (less hull more dmg) for 15sec duration after dropping below 50% 90sec lockout.
___
for the bop i expect that it features one! ltcom universal hybrid, as specialty.
trait: crew of the damned: increased flank and decloak dmg (up to 20%) depending on your negative crew left. (less crew, more bonus flanking and decloak dmg) - basing on the ds9 episode of the rotarran.
___
for the romulan tvaro i expect a specialty for the cloak: enhanced romulan phase battle cloak.
this cloak SHORTLY (3sec) shifts the ship out of phase (immune to everything) so you can use this BC without beeing blown up. the cd of the BC should be adjusted accordingly.
trait. real bird of prey: every second at full speed prior to decloaking builds up a decloak/flank bonus dmg for 10sec.
