Combat Log Question

I have a quick (and hopefully simple) question about combat logs.
[10:52] [Combat (Self)] Your Fluidic Fire deals 118 (89) Antiproton Damage to Vaadwaur Tech Officer.
What does the number in parentheses represent? Actual damage dealt? Amount resisted? Or something else entirely?

Thanks in advance. :)

first number is your raw damage, the second is what you actually did after all modifiers are calculated. i think

I thought it was the other way around, the first was total damage but the bracketed second number was the base damage the total was calculated from.

But then again I could be as equally wrong as well! :(

^ It makes more sense with the first number being the raw value, since the second number is always lower (when it shows up anyway, because against some foes, it actually doesn't)
