Started Delta Rising last Autumn and haven't played since. But now I've picked it up again and need some tips.
I'm on a patrol mission in the Orendal System, and I come across two ships of The Heirarchy.
How do I defeat them?
Because every time I attack them, I lose, quite quickly, because as soon as I'm hit with a pulse from one of their EM Probes, I'm completely vulnerable.
Are there any strategic points or any specific weapons or equipment people may recommend?
The easy way is to kill the probe before it gets close enough. Alternately if you collide with it, it will be destroyed. They can't really launch the probes if they're in a grav well, and of course FaW and torp spread can destroy the probes without requiring you to re-target.

Pretty much this, science and engineering team can help with debuffs and disables
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

They are easy. They mess my sensors up where I can see them. So I just take the time to heal up some. Then hammer away once they pop back up. I had more trouble with the Hirogen and Vaadwuar than the Heirarchy.

Are you facing a bunch of fighters? BFAW is the answer.
Are you facing a bunch of mines, targetable projectiles? BFAW is the answer.
Are you facing multiple enemies? BFAW is the answer.
Are you facing a single enemy? LOL! BFAW is the answer, even more so compared to Beam Overload!
( in reference to the last one )
But I like them both. And often at the same time.
But don't listen to me I'm terrible at this game. I die early and often.

You can remove the Heirarchy debuffs with Engineering Team and Science Team. So use it wisely if you have 1 copy`s of it.
If you have a little tanky ship then let `m use their debuffs and remove it when they are done. After that they are easy to kill
Activate the Photonic Cannon! The Hierarchy will retreat!

Are your enemies in EVERY compass direction? BFAW is the answer.
I'm pretty sure FAW refers to "Fire at Will." But what does the B part in BFAW stand for?
Simply the part of the acronym of the full name of the ability. Beam Fire At Will. BFAW & FAW is referring to the same thing.
I also equate it to "Win"
Actually, FAW should mean that we are always firing at Riker.

Picard: Fire at Will.
:: Worf pulls out a hand Phaser and fires at Commander Riker ::
:: Picard does a face palm ::
Picard: Why are Klingons so literal?
