I wonder if what we interpreted as a disintegration effect was actually a transporter beam. Sure, the Iconian impaled Kahless and he seemed to die, but I'd think Iconian technology would be advanced enough to heal that sort of grievous wound. Possibly keeping him alive for experimentation? This might make sense if there was some sort of connection between the Iconians and Molor - not Molor from the in-game Grethor episode, but the original Molor from Klingon history who was defeated by the real Kahless. Perhaps this historical event was actually a previous Iconian attempt to conquer the Milky Way, by first taking control of the Klingon Empire for use as a servitor race (which makes sense, as that seems to be how the Iconians operate, like how they manipulated the Undine and Vaadwaur). Might explain too why the Iconians are so intent on attacking Qo'nos, for revenge....first they tricked the Undine into attacking (yes, the Undine attacked ESD too, but that was just a distraction to pull forces away from Qo'nos), and then Gateway To Grethor plus Brotherhood of the Sword....while Earth is relatively ignored. Yes, the Romulans were technically the first to be attacked, but that can be explained because they currently live in territory that used to be in the heart of Iconian space, plus New Romulus has a gateway.
Wow. That's actually a really cool theory. I hope there's some credence to it.
