I don't know if this has been touched on yet...but STO has been hinting the plot since the Dominion Feature Episode "Of Bajor":
Trial of Darkness
Read it carefully:
"Spiders spin webs in corners untouched by time." Obviously the Iconians
""A Mother carried away on black wings, and her children will cry in the wilderness"- This references Sela, since earlier we witnessed Sela being taken by Iconians at this point in the narrative, and her children, being the Republic are looking to the UFP and KE for support.
"Only when the hero meets himself can this trial overcome"-Delta Recruitment is what is spoken about here.
Now the Third Trial, the Trial of Fire is more open to interpretation:
Trial of Fire
"A Viper bound in chains will stir in his sleep." This could be referencing Dukat and the Pah-Wraiths possible return...Or...
"Mountains will crack and tumble and the seas will rise up and swallow the People"...Combined with this passage could indicate the Iconian who wiped out that Preserver Archive...otherwise Bajor is in trouble...(Again)
"The tears of the keepers will fall onto the dust and new life with burst forth from the ashes" -I have no idea what to make of this, other than Preservers seeding new worlds
After work I'll be re-investigating the Bajoran Scriptures, see what else is in there...

You might want to rewrite that one, its not the republic that weeping, its the empire. The republic couldnt care less if sela is captured or dead
Whoever wrote those trials just read ASoIAF and must've thought it was funny...
