when i got the message yesterday i was a bit disappointed.. just a short sela in panic and pearl harbour for the dominion.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."

They've pretty much stated that the iconians are starting to attack the dominion. That's good enough for me, it'll probably be picked up sometime in the next couple of story missions they release. They said they were going to do several more over the course of the season, right?
Is it me or this is sounding like the iconians are trying to repeat their paste mistake again. why even go to dominion space. we already have some of the delta races allied to alpha and beta. who is writing the story, is making too much predictable
"You ask why we give our ships computer normal emotions. Do you really want a warship incapable of loyalty?"
They should be more cautious knowing that we've thwarted some of their plans already.
Unless they see the Alliance as a small bunch of monkeys, throwing with ... *things* ... and failed plans just as a coincidence.
We don't really know their level of arrogance/hubris.
They could be like the Kzin in Nivens "Known Space" universe, higly intelligent, but with a lot of culturally/biology-induced blind sports.

Was only counting the 34000 + 7500 from mark turn ins in the end. If you ad 40 daily projects for 340 Dil each yea, you even get up with additional 13600. With token some 6800.

40 days of waiting and build-up from a smug Sela just for 7 lines of dialogue that say "uh oh, Iconians weren't bluffing, they are indeed attacking the galaxy! Who would have thought? Oh well, toodles!" ?
You don't need a themed expansion for one of those though (see. the old dominion lock box.)

I... *incoherent disbelief*
The tone in T4 gave it away.
1 and 2 setup the background details. 3 raised the question of interacting with the dominion but 4 downplayed it. If you follow the narrative curve there's quite a bit of inertia to break to suddenly say "hey they're on our side now and will ride to the rescue in the climactic finally and promise from then on to restructure the whole of low-level STO content to fit in a faction whose starting location isn't in the game as yet nor has any reason to participate with any multi-faction mission up to this point." It follows much more appropriately that things break down.
It would also be very un-dominion for the dominion to become involved now (and explicitly we were told by the dominion wouldn't happen, see. the delta recruitment event.)
This way there's a tangent that fills in a little detail of "just what the jelly gods are up to" without requiring the effort of an expansion or dedicated season, thus leaving those to do other things.
That being said... It doesn't say whether or not the Dominion is being attacked... just that the Heralds are after Sela.
If heralds were capable of keeping a low profile they wouldn't have bothered with *all of the STO plot up to S10*. I think its a safe bet to say that the demonic warlocks of ultimate galaxy-wide destruction are up to more in dominion space.

Whilst sort, and not exactly elaborate, "The Heralds are here" implies that the Herald are in Dominion space.
Interesting in itself, as 'Sphere of Influence' indicated that the Iconians preferred "observation but no engagement".
That was before the gateways opened. I'm fairly certain neither the Dominion or Iconians were very happy to become sudden neighbors, and shenanigans have ensued.
If the Dominion and the Gamma quadrant is going to be introduced then it deserves it's own expansion, not just being thrown in at the last minute in a Tier 5 reputation mini mission.

Thus, another focus for the next expansion. Every delta recruitment message from the dominion or the cardassians downplayed or resolved their involvement with the iconians (which can be summarized as the major arc of STO up to this point.) They are becoming increasingly disconnected from this game and with a competent revamp of current cardassian series that could easily be the end of the gamma quadrant's involvement in STO. Thanks for the effort, but now we'll move onto our new arc: return of the whale probes.
Most likely that won't happen, its hard to see cryptic purposefully eliminating one whole and not-too-controversial part of the ST franchise (ie. DS9) just for the sake of house cleaning but the hope, right now, of a gamma-quadrant related faction/expansion should probably be downplayed until there's a change in the prevailing winds.
Cryptic is distinctly not foreshadowing when they could be.

I see this as ominous foreshadowing. I'm guessing we get a Dominion faction next.

Or, if not a Faction, at least an Expansion into the Gamma Quadrant next.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Or, if not a Faction, at least an Expansion into the Gamma Quadrant next.
I just occurred to me that they'd have to add new stuff to the Gamma Q for Fed/Rom/KDF even if the next expansion is a Dominion Faction. They can't have a section of the galaxy map that only a few players can access. :P
If the Dominion and the Gamma quadrant is going to be introduced then it deserves it's own expansion, not just being thrown in at the last minute in a Tier 5 reputation mini mission.
Maybe it will have its own. I mean, pre-delta quadrant all we were getting were snippets here and there alluding to it. This really is no different.
I wonder if the iconians plan to fight the Dominion street by street like they are on Qu'nos or they just sneak attack the founders planet and turn it to charcoal. Then clean up.
Because they way they are attacking the Klingons make me think it's amateur hour.
Not sure why everyone is pitching a hissy over this... especially after some on here were calling for the New Romulus reputation missions to be bounced OUT of the rep tree, as a standalone mission. We weren't going to get a BOFF (who would it be, anyway?), and this is only designed to support the main storyline.
The wise sages have spoken on the matter... hopefully, we'll have everything we want in short time. Should be a VERY interesting summer!
Also, a big fat NO to a "Dominion" faction. The devs have said, flat out, that they won't do a "villain faction" in STO... and if they try and TRIBBLE all over the Dominion, making them into some "oh, we're just misunderstood" shadow of what they were in DS9... no, thanks. Go for a Cardassian faction. It makes a lot more sense.

So, it does involve the dominion?
