There are a few real star systems that are missing on the Galaxy maps. Some of these systems are also major locations in the Federation both in canon and non-canon. Some of the information I present comes from "The Space Atlas" (p44-45) by Heather Couper and Nigel Henbest. Distances listed are from the Sol system, and their locations are derived from using systems already located,
Alpha Centarui/Promixa Centauri System- 4.2 lyr, Teneebia Sector between Sol, Eirhess and Teneebia
Sirius System- 8.6 lyr, Vulcan Sector between Wolf 359 and Andoria
UV Ceti System-8.9 lyr, Deneb Sector, central east
I think they all are.
Otherwise there would be MUCH more stars on that list imo.
"...'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied--chains us all irrevocably.' ... The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today--"
- (TNG) Picard, quoting Judge Aaron Satie
Look on Memory Alpha for the details, but here are a list of episodes that reference those systems
Proxima Centauri- ENT "Boarderland", "Affliction"; TNG "The Naked Now", "The Last Outpost", "The Schizoid Man"; DS9 "In Purgatory's Shadow", "In the Pale Moonlight"
Alpha Centauri- ENT "Fortunate Son", "Twilight"; TOS "Torrorow is Yesterday", "Requiem for Methuselah"; TNG "Qpid" "Booby Trap", "Elementary Dear Data"; DS9 "Field of Fire", "In the Pale Moonlight"
Barnard's Star, Lalande 21185, Ross 154, Ross 248- TNG "The Naked Now", "The Last Outpost"
Sirius System-TOS "Arena"; Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country; TNG "The Naked Now", "The Last Outpost"
Procyon- ENT "Azati Prime"; TNG "The Naked Now", "The Last Outpost"
Tau Ceti- ENT "Shadows of P'Jem", "In a Mirror Darkly"; TOS "Whom Gods Destroy"; Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan; Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country; TNG "The Naked Now", "The Last Outpost", "Conspiracy", "Journey's End", "Inheritance"; VOY "Coda"
Altair- TOS "Amok Time", "Wolf in the Fold"; Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan; Star Trek III The Search for Spock; TNG "Encounter at Farpoint", "Datalore", "Future Imperfect", "Eye of the Beholder"; DS9 "Profit Motive", "You are Cordially Invited"
Capella- TOS "Friday's Child"; Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country
I will point out that Beta Geminorum, also known as Pollox is on the map, though in the wrong location. It's only claim to Star Trek fame is that it appeared on an Okudagram. That system has much more potential as it has many points of intrest in the novels.
Fomalhaut is also on the map, but has NO claim to fame in Star Trek canon. There is much potential in this system as well as many other sci-fi have this as a multi-planet system. I would recommend taking some of those ideas (such as a space station) and implement them here.
At a bare minimum, they can be used as launching points for foundry missions. Another use is for the mission "Tour the Galaxy". They can be used as alternate locations to "tag".
Is there anything of significance, aside from having been mentioned once or more?
How about actually looking them up on Memory Alpha? For starters, "Friday's Child" (TOS) occurs in the Capella System. Tau Ceti is the home system of the Traveler, Wesley's mentor. Procyon is the location of the battle against the sphere builders(Iconians?) featuring the Enterprise-J.
If you want people to take your advice, give them a reason to take your advice. Don't just tell them to look things up.
So far you've mentioned that they exist in the TV show and that's about it. How are these locations important enough to be worthy of adding to the game?

To quote Judge Q in "All Good Things...":
"Oh, you'd like me to connect the dots for you, lead you from A to B to C so your puny mind can comprehend. How boring. They'd be so much more entertained if you tried to figure it out. I'll answer any ten questions that call for a yes or a no. Well? "
If people are too lazy to do their own research, that is THEIR problem, not mine. I gave some examples above, but if you expect me to spoon feed every specific example, then I would be copy/pasting entire memory alpha article pages. Not only is that unrealistic, it also means that those people don't learn for themselves and educate themselves. That is NOT empowerment. Failure to learn something on one's own is why the world is a mess today.

If your suggestion requires me to do research to understand why you made it, I won't bother. And the devs won't either. Because I don't care about your suggestion, and you have not given a reason to do so.
