I know all the consoles and console sets aren't that strong, and I know people don't really buy the ships just for the consoles
but the elachi console set deserves special mention, it is phenomenally weak
a good part of this is because the pets (generated by the consoles) are very weak, probably not very strong offensively but unbelievably weak on defense, they die very very quickly.
what good is being able to spawn them if they die right off?
and the central cannon with the massive charge up time is not very useable
it's fun to try and make the consoles work on some of these sets, give a ship something that's supposed to be uniquely endowned to it ... it would be cool to try that with one of the elachi ships
Elachi Barrage is actually pretty nice. First, it's completely based on Disruptor, unlike the Scimitar's Thalaron Pulse which needs Aux Power and Particle Generator Skill. Secondly, the fewer targets there are in the Elachi Barrage cone, the higher the damage is dealt. The more targets there are, the more diffused the damage. It's something you save up for on Boss-like encounters
However, whether it's worth to slot those consoles is a different matter altogether.
I'm personally more frustrated with the Elachi Frigate pets; they're so damn slow. And they respond to pet commands about as well as drunken sailors in rough seas. They seriously need a buff to their competency (at least to the levels of other Frigate pets; the Romulan Drones, Plesh Brek Frigates (which basically copied the JHAS Frigate code; right down to the suicide ramming), or JHAS frigates would be great).
OK, so NOT the Fer'Jai Frigate coding, because they're just as bad (I had forgotten).
Those things are equipped with narrow arc weapons, and like the BOP hangar units, they LOVE to take excessively wide, long, leisurely turns firing only their turrets at the target.

you can't tell me this wasn't fixed ... this is a promotion lockbox style money generating ship, it must be at a high level of importance ........ and this is posted as "verified" back in december

When they came through the Gates, my Elachi Frigates were left behind while I ran to close gates. So only when I found a competent team that can close gates just by sitting at their common spawn points do I deploy them. And even then, they take forever to circle around to attack. One of them even wandered off as far as the other gate group and was somehow surviving the NPCs (I couldn't deploy another Frigate becaue it was still within the invisible range limit).

the vo'quv frigs are much worse for what you describe there, they turn and maneuver like they are pint sized vo'quvs
And yes, the karfi frigs do have some weapons downtime with the turning, but it seems faster than the vo'quv frigs and ... somehow, they turn out to be decent pets. I don't know, maybe it's the mines. But I've used carriers a lot and the karfi with the frigs is my main ship, it's not bad and the pets are pretty good.
The Elachi Lobi Space set needs a buff too. Especially the Elachi single (!) cannon. You're geting +7.6% (iirc) Disruptor dmg from the 2-piece set bonus; but with a cannon so weak, it negates the dmg you could have done with a 'real' DHC. They should add another [CrtD] to it or something (on Epic, like they did for the Chroniton DBB).

One of the best console sets in the game are on meh ships.
What I think is the best console set in the game?: Voth and bortasq
But the ships are unusable.
