Upgrade Rewards from "blood of the ancients"

Okay here is question.
Have Mk VI, VII, VIIIx2 of the Anti-Proton DHC from the rewards of finishing the mission. Character is now level 50.

Is it cheaper to upgrade the gear to xii or simply build 3 AP DHC in r/d school that has a level 19 out of 20.

I though the reward gear was free to upgrade or at least it did it on one of the items either from uneasy allies or blood of the ancients back in the beginning. Was that a bug perhaps, maybe an oversight on my part. Did not use any tech/accel in that accidental upgrade.

    Level to 60 and the rewards for that mission will be Mk XII. Upgrading anything from that mission to Mk XII is a waste.

    At least for the Radiant Rewards and Console and it may apply to the AP stuff too, just slot it in the Upgrade UI - it is a no cost free upgrade which goes all the way to MK XII. Normal other rules apply - time-gated one level at a time. It let's you slot a quality upgrade mat but that shows 0% chance so don't bother.

    Worked with the Romulan Armor/Shield from Uneasy Allies as well.

    Have tried it multiple times in the upgrade slot but keeps refusing to upgrade without upgrade tech or accel. When you mentioned the rommie armor, that might have been the one it worked with. Maybe they didn't want you to free upgrade then the gear from blood of the ancients????

    Every reward from that mission upgrades for free with the exception of the generic antiproton rewards.

    there's a proton weapon reward from dronza station episodes, I believe it's a leveling-blue (rare) item

    you can't upgrade that one until you are a certain level/rank

    don't know if that applies here, but it's something that happens

    The "free to upgrade to XII" only applies to the special rewards, such as the Imperial Navy ground set or the Resonant space set.


    If you can, you should probably craft your own - That way you can make sure you get a decent set of mods (Can't quite remember - but i think the reward ones had fairly rubbish mods)
