Engineer Cap - Pilot Ships or stick with the T5-U Fleet Mogh?

Hi, all.

So, I've been neglecting my pure KDF captain since the Mogh as far as new ships go because...well, lack of selection when everything is beamsbeamsbeams no matter what you fly. Like many players KDF caps, she's been mostly retired to Contra farming and events.

Now that I've saved up good bit of dil from said contra farming, I'm considering using it to purchase either the Pilot Sci ship or maybe even the bundle. I figured that the new mechanic plus the nimbleness of the ships in general (and the look) would give me a chance to pull my shelved DHC's out of retirement and feel a little more...Klingon...in combat.

What has been your experience so far, gang? Would an Engi cap running to run DHC's (and possibly a Torp Spread if I use the Pilot Sci) again be a good fit in a pilot ship doing Advanced STF's or should I stick with my tried & true T5-U Fleet Mogh? What Pilot ship would you recommend for her? Is the 3-pc bonus to Cannons & Turrets worth losing 3 console slots for?

Thanks! :)

well i still use DHC its good enough for PvE because no Klingon is going to top DPS charts just isnt gonna happen at this stage of the game.

Torps are not gonna give you a gain, really better off sticking to a primary weapon, but i use one torp on my boats because i like them, its canon, nice with a HYT3 makes enemy go BOOM & I can use the same damage/tac console for it as my weapons (AP crystal entity torp)

the Mogh i always disliked EXCEPT for an Engineer captain with an engineer that ship can do some damage and take some as well.

my main tac toon has faught some of the pilot ships in 1v1 PvP and all i can say is i am not impressed one bit with them.

my T5U tor'kaht just rips through them like a hot knife on butter. so to me id say keep the mogh if your engineer but really to each his/her own.

their is no best or worst ship as a rule it really all depends on what works for you. all we can do is share our own experiences.

in closing i am still a Huge fan of the T5U tor'kaht aka. Vorcha and even though i have 2 sets of beams i still went back to my DHC as on single targets its rips through them.

Engineers flying Escorts like Pilot Ships is actually a very good balance.

For a bunch of players out there, surviving in Escorts is sometimes an issue. Engineers don't have that problem. Not with Miracle Worker and not with their Subsystem Power levels.

Speaking of Power Levels, Engineer capability to typically run with far higher Subsystem Power Levels than TAC & SCI Captains can. That means your Escort will be running better.

One of the things about Engineers is the lack of offensive punch in their abilities. Flying on an Escort fixes that issue.

Side note: To even help your Subsystem Power Level a bit more, don't forget the Polaric Modulator Console from "Delta Flight."

    +5 Inertia
    +12% Flight Speed
    A W->E style of mod
    +20% Flight Turn Rate

Your Pilot Ship will be humming along much nicer with that. Lots of things related to Pilot Ship play is tied to Flight Speed or Throttle Settings.

As an engineer captain, I quite enjoyed the Pilot ship experience. Despite being a tanky player these ships were pretty survivable so long as you keep zipping about.
I ended up preferring the engy variant the most, simply because I wanted DEM.

Yes I like the ENG variants more too, more space for RSP with doubt a2b. First time I have ever liked the ENG variants on ships more, in the past they were always the lame ducks.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth
