No. I've got 3 PWE-mail-accounts. 2 of them received the mail. And those 2 mail-accounts have been created only to serve as PWE-mail-accounts. They have only been used to create a STO-account. They have never been used for anything else. My main account is the third account and that is the one I am connected to thise forums.
The 2 compromised are only and exclusively used for playing STO. Nothing else.
Thus, I am 100% sure that the security breech is NOT on my side. That's why I request an answer. That's why I post it here.
Although I don't spend money on all of those accounts, those accounts are valuable. I always make unique mail accounts for anything that could be valuable. And I always restrict the use of said accounts to the single purpose they have been created for.
I'm in the IT-business for more than 30 years. I know how to protect my soul and my wallet as best as I can!
My research pointed towards an Korean company and I did not see ANY connection to PWE.
I see only 2 ways how my information could have gone there:
1. PWE's data was robbed
2. PWE's data was sold - to find out if it was PWE or a "disgruntled" employee is beyond my research capabilities.
Maybe. But it is a very serious security breech, if they sell login-data for a game where you can put money in. The email-account is just one half of the login. There is a reason why you see only a handle and NOT the mailname ingame.

There is nothing serious about it or even illegal. Most corporations you do business with sell your information to other businesses. That is why you have telemarketers calling your home - they purchased your name and phone number from one of the companies you are currently doing business with: Utility, Cellphone, Credit Card, etc. This stuff happens constantly.
Of course I have never received any information about Dragon Nest Oracle. But that is probably because I specified no notifications from the option when I created my account.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Can you please tell me why I get spam advertisement for that game on email accounts that are only used for PWE games?
I did not use those email accounts for anything else. That means that YOU gave that info away. I did not want it. So tell me what happened!
To my knowledge Dragon Nest Oracle is not affiliated with us. Do keep in mind that my work account (my perfectworld email) is exclusive to work related things only (as mandated by work) and I have a fair amount of spam for petitions and offers from other companies (including game companies).
There are a great deal of cold-email listing practices where you and probably thousands of others picked from the nether to receive whatever this. However I can assure you it was not from or due to us.

3. The company you got the email address from sold your information (note, google in specific sells your data and the content of your email messages and alll google docs "in aggregate" for the purposes of targeted advertising)
4. You didn't log out from those accounts while browsing and were tracked via cookies, ads,etc
5. Virus/Trojan/keyloggers

Most likely people that go the route of doing surveys are being bombarded with spam like this. Only other reasoning with mmorpgs to get these is using sites that offer information that any decent player would never attempt to do to their machine or client.
@gavinruneblade
I assure you that I have a bunch of other mail-accounts with that specific provider. It seems reasonably unlikely that I receive that special ads only on the few accounts that are reserved for playing STO.
In my country we have laws against that kind of thing (although a law is NO safeguard against wrongdoing!).
@trillbuffet
I did not use or post those accounts anywhere else but for login to STO. Never! I don't see where somebody would have been able to harvest those account-infos for use on spams.
@pwlaughingtrendy
I did not see any connection to PWE (referring to my own research) and I like to know that you said there is no connection.
I know that spammers like to send their messages wild and that they like to secure spammed accounts with possible return messages. I'll get a sufficient number of spam mails that way and I'm long enough in the IT-business to know how that is working. I'm never responding to such mails and I'm never opening them (just looking at text versions of such messages sometimes). For doing my research I did not use any link provided with the message.
There is just one thing that worries me enough to post my message here: why do I get these spams on the same day and on 2 accounts that have been earmarked and exclusively used with STO logins only. And not a single message reached the dozens of other accounts used by me.
Beside being the victim of a man-in-the-middle attack or the possibility that a well-known and respected provider broke the law in my country (which is very strict - 'I'm from Europe), there is just one plausible reason: there might be something wrong on your side.
I have no reason to believe that I might be important enough to be attacked with such a method. I'm not rich, I'm a pensionist. There is about nothing to be gained from me.
I know for sure that there is no 100% possible in IT security.
I have suspicions and it just might be prudent to be careful. For you and for me!

I have a email account I only use for gaming, and while its been around quite a number of years and has managed to pick up some spam (mostly pron and Internet scams) the one thing it hasn't picked up is spam form games my by companies I'm not already doing business with. I certainly haven't gotten anything from a Korean company. Seems unlikely PWE would be selling your email, and keeping mine private if they are in the email address selling business.

I have no information that would be pointing to anybody anywhere, who might be responsible.
If I would have gotten it on other mail-accounts, I would not be worried and I would not post here.
But that I get these messages on such mail-accounts with such a restricted usage that is worrying me. I don't imply something, but it's never wrong to check again if it is about security. I assume that this is true for me (because I'm the receiver of those messages) and for PWE (because they are the ones for which I use this accounts).
I might have added a third party or I might have exchanged PWE for the third party, if those messages would have been made on other mail-accounts. Then I would think, that the leak might have been with my provider.
I'll check my side a bit more now, but I would like other's to open their eyes as well.

Well i've never had anything relating to that game in my inbox, i suspect its more an end user issue, that or i just have a better spam filter :P

....huh, odd. Actually looks like DNO is a private server of DN, being run by someone else. How strange.

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.
