I want to start a KDF Fleet. And I mostly just want people to play this game with. People who are unafraid to do something different with STO. Namely, enjoy themselves while playing it. Yeah, yeah. I know this is a radical concept which borders on heresy. Well, stick with me for a bit. 'Cuz you ain't seen nothin' yet.
I want a KDF Fleet which composed of Casuals. As in, "I have about 45 minutes before I have to go pick up the grandkids from soccer practice. Think I'll just knock off a couple of Tau Dewa Patrols and I'm good for the day."
I want to play STO with people to whom Neil Armstrong stepping onto the Moon was an actual event, not a question on a US History final exam.
I want to play STO with people who can remember when gasoline came with lead and in 98 octane.
I want to play STO with people who think "Grumpy Old Klingons" is one of the best Star Trek episodes ever.
Don't misinterpret me, please. I enjoy playing with the kids. They can be fun to be around most times. But all that chasing DPS and min/maxing and farming and what not can wear a fella down after awhile. I am not looking to be first or best or fastest. I want to play this game with people I enjoy being around. And who may not be able to play for a few weeks in July because they've got hip replacement surgery scheduled.
I'm not going to browbeat people into surrendering all their Dil and free time to getting a Fleet base to T5 in record time. I don't plan on making people contribute a certain amount or play some Foundry mission or salute me when I bump into them just to be able to buy one or two Items in the Fleet Store. It has been thirty five years since I graduated high school. I didn't like the lunch room cliques and drama back then. I'm even less tolerant of them now.
I live in the US Central time zone. My bedtime is around nine on school nights and I have to get up at oh-dark-thirty to get ready for work. I work a ten hour shift Monday thru Friday and the occasional weekend. While I am not adverse to having people from all over the world be a part of this, it isn't really fair to that cool guy in in Freidberg, Germany to be logged in and ready to play when all the rest of us have already put our jammies on and gone nite-nite. Nor do I want him to have to stay up to the wee hours just to run a Fleet-only STF with us.
But, if you want a guaranteed wingman for helping you level up that new char. Or, you'd like to try some PvP with someone who is just as awful at it as you are. Or, you want to try out a different way of playing the STFs simply because you want to, I'll be your huckleberry.
I am planning on trying for TeamSpeak or some other VOIP program. I am not interested in having a Fleet website nor a Facebook page. I already have one of each of those and little to no interest in using either one.
