Initially, I was not too happy with the promo pics of the KDF Pilot Ships but they've grown on me. For me, I ranked the Rom, Fed, KDF Pilot ships in that order for the sake of visual appeal. But the KDF one now is vying for #1. I have to appreciate having cannons almost as long as the ship's length. It's this and the animations for the Microprojectile Barrage that make me believe the artist(s) responsible are fans of Japanese anime, specifically the old "Macross Missile Massacre"/"Itano Circus."
The ship? I got the bundle so I've been trying each type with different characters. The Science one is the first I mastered. These are the values I'm getting for my particular KDF SCI Pilot ship.
Flight Speed 54.48
+ 10.9 Armor Penetration against your target
(Scales with speed, max is +15%) <- Off tooltip
Subwarp Sheath Trait is one of those buffs that do not show up on my character (and I'm going to assume, another player). Also, the Armor Penetration value fluctuates greatly.
- If I stay in a tight turn for long (handful of seconds), it gradually drops down to +8.4
- If I straighten out, it very quickly picked right back up to +10.9. About 1 second was all it took to get back up to max.
If you have Pilot Specialization, there's also "Pedal to the Metal" which gives you a counter to stack up to 10. Each stack brings +1% bonus damage for a max of +10%. If you have Full Pilot Mastery, it upgrades it to +2% for a grand possible total of +20% bonus damage. The catch is that this trait wants you to stay at 100% throttle setting. The moment you pull back on that you lose the buff and have to go back to 100% and build the counter back up. It's nice but flying that fast takes a very different style of play compared to most earlier Escorts.
Back in prehistory, if you flew an escort in PVP like you can today, you blew up because of the way defense was calculated. Dark times. For escorts. I was in a BoP so life was pretty damn good.
Anyway...TY for the info! Now we need some combat logs to see how the stuff is being applied, where it fits in the resistance formula. I Vote that Virus buys a bundle, gets the traits, and does all the work.
You're the one that pointed out there might be something off with things there with how +/- DR might be working now...think you should take that bull by the horns and lead the way!
Besides, I got motion sickness just watching swalldev's animated gif - there's no way I could go anywhere near these ships. Heh, like trying to watch the vid you had there...lol...yeah, no way I could fly one of those ships.
The ships, though, yeah - taking on more of an anime look than a Star Trek look there. Heck, even the Samsar/Astika had me thinking that...

It would be way easier if you would shoot at me a bit when I'm on. Makes it way easier for me to get data.
But yes as soon as I get the mastery I'll be parsing away.
Hey if you're not too busy would you mind solving all your equations for rating?
And check this link out and see if I copied your formula faithfully, etc.
I mean, it's the weekend! Who wants to be outside? If I didn't have such a narrow window to get the pilot videos out I'd be all over that, but I'll be done with all the pilot stuff by monday. Then I'll be back to needling you. Mmmmm...something for you to look forward to!

Renim used to have a great build for testing those kind of things - pseudo-barebones without worrying about too many things interfering and producing unpredictable results.
Solving my equations for rating?
Hey, it's not my formula - it's queue38's formula...
As far as the cap goes, +75% is the same as saying it takes 4 times longer to kill someone. But when you kill someone 4 time faster it is 400%. So I would think the - cap is -400%
Now for the math I just put all the formulas into one for easy.
Note the "Total+MAG? or "Total-MAG" is whatever the tool tip say divided by 100. So if Sensor Scan is 70 put .70 into the formula.
...I just broke it down and gave it some nerdy acronyms to put it in a spreadsheet where I could plug in the +DRR/-DRR stuff. Doesn't cover the DBRR things nor debuffs that are considered injuries. That gets into rbaker82's formula here: Damage Resistance Magnitude, Debuffs, Injuries, and Bonus Resistance
But yeah, that's basically the way I use it in a spreadsheet for some quick calcs not involving the DBRR/injury stuff.
Heh, this weekend's kind of annoying...birthday nonsense today, mother's day stuff for the girlfriend tomorrow...bah humbug with such things I say!
Polaric Modulator Console from "Delta Flight" is very nifty also.
+5 Inertia
+12% Flight Speed
A W->E style mod
+20% Flight Turn Rate
For someone wanting to improve handling characteristics on any ship, that console's great. On a Pilot Ship, it's even better.
It's been forever since I was working lots of Escort play. Funny having 100+ Bonus Defense on a KDF ship and seeing this all the time: Miss

With the build I have, I almost never use my heals and end up helping out the Cruisers or some other hapless Escort. I would think Feds with Reciprocity would have a joyride with the Pilot Ships, but that removes Pilot BOFF abilities from that equation.
Does the Spatial Sinkhole Generator have any cooldown interaction with Gravity Well/Tyken's Rift?
Next up, after this silly fedscort pilot ship video uploads, will be the console video. sorry but I intentionally glossed over the consoles in the intro video. I decided this time I would do a console only blog/video to better cover them.
check in builds and powers as i likely will post it there to escape moderator wrath, or sub to the channel or blog and you'll get an update. or facebook. there's methods.

yeah and combined with the hull regeneration trait, I'm sporting some awesome speed tanking. On the fed side, with a full human crew, in a cruiser, 2pc kobali set, and the trait, I have 102% in combat hull regen lol. It's based on engine power and not speed like the armor pen trait is so it's easy to max out.

Why spoil my day when Virus is already cranky?
