I'm in several channels, to find groups mainly, or other areas I was invited in,
There's always talk, but it seems a bit different this time
the general message is that people are interested in these pilot ships (they are powerful) but the final analysis is
> why buy new ships if you can't use them. the ongoing lag has gotten to some people. behavior, purchasing/spending behavior is changing, or starting to change.
(I'm referring to the lag)
these are core people who really want to play, they want to spend and play, here, in sto, not somewhere else. Who knows, maybe they will break down and do it anyway because they think things will eventually be fixed, taking it on faith. But, based on the talk, that's what they have been doing already, and it's it's wearing thin.
ground combat leagues/channels have opened up in response to the lag, but changing up what we do in the game ((((while we wait for fixes)))) only lasts so long
imho, you guys really need to stop work on almost everything and focus on this as a company

The one and only place I experience lag is in ISA. It is terrible there so I no longer play that. I do not experience any lag anywhere else. Today I flew with pilot ships in every group also.
Examining this problem has to have multiple sources. Has to have something to do with the internet route from certain users to Cryptic and it has to have something to do with whatever goes on in ISA that's different than other places.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

I'm not sure why you have that experience, but it's in every pve que I've played recently, and the same goes for the people who play them in the channels. It's certainly in khittomer. less than isa, but it's there.

So you want ship designers and environmental artists to work on bugs (which they don't know how to do that). well that wont work.....so you want the devs that don't have knowledge in bug squashing to sit on their hands and sit at work to get paid to do nothing.....no no no that wont do. darn I guess they are just going to have to assign the devs who know how to fix lag and bugs to do just that and assign the other devs to do what they are trained to do.....oh snap that's what they are actually doing............useless thread.
So, you think the game's revenues may start going down because of what you heard "this time"(not even normally) in game chat? LOL ok
it's the sort of thing where you hear nearly the same thing spontaneously declared from 3 active players/payers in a short amount of time in 3 separate places

Khitomer lag is sooo bad that you can't finish it.. guys get frustrated and bail after 5 min of play and take the leaver penalty..:(

people who you would be surprised to hear gripe
Well, I will say this: every game dies eventually. So even though there are always some people who are the video game equivalent of the guy on a street corner preaching "the end is nigh", some are actually right by mere coincidental timing. I don't actually think this is STO's time, but the reality is there will come a point where revenues will start to trend downwards.
Really surprised they haven't stickied something yet about this. From all I've seen and heard it appears to be a multifaceted problem (with their provider for some areas being a major contributing factor) but it's been reported to death at this point and, as mentioned, Trendy looks like she's trying to get some updates.
Putting an official word somewhere, even if all it says is "We know and we're working on it," might help cut down on the drive by posts on the subject.
As it has been mentioned far too often both by me and other players, having the entire content production line go to a standstill and move every non-engineer developer over to engineer functions is a foolish thing to do. I'd prefer my artists to do art things, my ship people to do ship things.

They have multiple teams.
As for working on it, look here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23765441&postcount=614
