Honor Guard / MACO attainment is a joke...a BAD joke

ccarmichael07ccarmichael07 Member Posts: 755 Arc User
I had it in my list of goals to obtain the cool looking MACO and Honor Guard gear for my Delta Recruits. However, it's becoming readily apparent that this is never going to happen.

Just how is someone supposed to obtain Omega Marks and Borg Neural Processors?

You can't get BNPs because that requires you to FINISH an Elite STF. You can't do that because 35 seconds in, the optionals fail, and the whole mission is a bust. So Cryptic put a backdoor into the rep system to get BNPs through Omega Marks...but you can't get Omega Marks through Choice of Mark queues anymore.

So just how are you supposed to accomplish this?

Funny thing is, the gear isn't even relevant anymore. There is better gear out there. So the only reason to do this is for the costume unlocks, yet that being said, these are quite literally the most difficult costume unlocks IN ANY GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED.

Such a horrible bad joke.

/sigh

When the Summer event rolls around, you can have fun trading the birds in for marks. That's how I got my MACO set. ;)

You can trade 100 marks for a neural processor every 20 hours.

Omega marks are some of the easiest to get. Normal versions of the Borg STFs (e.g. infected space), borg red alerts and borg disconnected all give them. Defera ground zone too

I'd do one infected normal a day for 100 marks - only 30 less than advanced. Some days try a cure or khittomner advanced for a processor.

Then, yes, raise birds and monkeys for a month. Should gain between 200 and 400 a day = 6000 to 12,000 marks - can figure on about 10,000 with reasonable doffs.

Thanks for the helpful insights. That at least gives me a path to pursue, that while not the greatest (lots of grinding + a seasonal) at least I should be able to move forward.

^^ Yep, I saw that too. They especially added that for ppl like the OP, who, for some reason, can't get to the BNPs the regular way. Was a pretty decent gesture of Cryptic, I think (and one of the rare occassions where it shows they *do* listen to feedback occassionally).

And also why it's asinine to not offer Iconian Probe Datacores for Bug Hunt. I'm just going to grind up the Iconian Marks from Bug Hunt every 20 hours for a datacore anyway, so they kind of fail at their cunning plan to get people to do the new buggy/laggy content for the new elite currency.

But now that I've revealed my super secret exploit to get Iconian Datacores, I can expect Bug Hunt to get nerfed now, since I'm not playing the game the way it's intended to be played.

Could be worse, I have the mk x and xi sets. Now you just have the mk xii stuff to get.

Friends, Fleet, DPS-Channels (ok, that would imply one has already learned to play), there are so many ways to make a successful run.

I already have about 20 of the iconian dataprobe cores, with over 1000 marks, and all I do is Brotherhood adv. Oh and T3 iconian Rep.

Easy Iconian marks and datatcores to be had replaying the last 2 ground missions on Kobali home world in Delta qaud. Takes less then 10 min to do both as always loads of other players.

Honestly, MACO and Honor Guard gear is waaay to easy to get these days.

Was better before the Rep systems came along, before it became all about farming "ISA" when you actually had to play ALL the Borg STF's to complete Space and Ground sets.

The RNG could be a real pain at times, but the anticipation made it exciting anyway. And the feeling of euphoria when you finally managed to gather togeter that Mk XII set was indescribable.

These days its all about farming marks, without even any decent gear drops anymore. Hell, you don't even get the STF gear as a reward anymore, you actually have to pay for the damn stuff with Dilithium EC marks and BNP's.
Theres no excitement, no anticipation, and getting a full set is an experience summed up with... Meh!

It's the same with the Breach. You can get dyson and delta marks from it but only Voth Cybernetic Implant and not Ancient Power Cells, so I guess they already have a precedence for that.

Ummm... On the off chance you were actually meaning just Elite difficulty, and not Advanced ques, and since it does not appear anyone else has said so, you can earn BNP's from Advanced Borg STFs...
The entitlement is strong in these forums...

Just wanted to ad that I was able to get the MACO Striker costume unlock by purchasing the Adapted MACO armor. Not even the entire set was necessary so a few less marks needed than originally thought.

It should also be noted that there are still no means in game to get the MACO Operational suit.

Take your time with elite versions of your customer’s favoured maps Cryptic. With Doff XP nerf I can imagine you have your hands full.
