Why is Concentrate Firepower 3 >>>> CF1 / CF2?

The title pretty much sums it up. I've seen some forum dwellers make the claim that CF3 is vastly superior to the lower ranked variants, and I am wondering why. I've been running CF2 on my command cruiser, and I've been pretty happy with the results so far. Is the boost in power so vast that it would be worth sacrificing a Lt. Cmdr engineering skill?

Thanks to anyone who weighs in (especially with that cool math stuff)!

    Number of available procs
Damage dealt per shot landed (calculated at what damage makes it to hull)
Duration is greater (?) [Going from memory]

Use it. Love it vs unshielded targets. Needs to be re-worked vs shielded targets, imho (ie calculate the 20% BEFORE shield resists & bleedthrough, not what makes it to hull through shields). Call it, "The Torpedo version of the Embassy Console", so you can sleep better at night, Devs. There :) Have a good day!

Turning the Galaxy-X into a Torpedo Dreadnought & torpedo tutorial, with written torpedo guide.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

If you used the 4 command consoles and the tachyon platform, you wouldn't have to complain about shields.

yeah, as long as you're specced into flow caps, it's amazing. In general, I think a lot of people don't get how powerful shield drains can be because it does not show up in parses.

But slotting those 4 consoles comes with the *huge* opportunity cost of not being able to slot 4 consoles that could have given you extra CrtH/CritD. Maybe not an issue for a cheating Tact Rom in his/her Scimi, but for a Fed Engineer, it's an issue. :)

While very true for targets with a high TTL, it doesn't work for when you're breezing through targets. On top of that, I'd lose so much potential damage per salvo that it end up being a net loss overall.

Besides, what's wrong with having 20% of torpedo damage bypassing shields and going to hull? The game already has shield bypass mechanics for energy weapons. Why not do the same for CF, which is on a CD?
