bought a Caitain Bridge Officer today, and noticed that they are able to add markings (i.e. strips, spots, and such). Sadly this is not included for the player Caitains, will there be an update to add this to the player skins?

Okay, good, not just me... I bought a Farasan and Caitain to get the best of both and found I couldn't make any the markings shown in the pictures.
I ran into someone down on the Klingon Academy and saw that they had the markings and asked... when told where to get them I tried looking again... contacted that person again and asked to make sure I was in right spot, found out they double checked and the options were missing now... For both Farasan and Caitain
Damn. That sucks. That must be a recent bug, because I recently (post-DR, pre-Season 10) customized an entire Caitian crew.
I wonder if this is somehow linked to the tail bug that cat races are now experiencing.

I think players need to unlock/buy both, Caitian and Ferasan to use the markings and the mohawk hair.

as I stated, I did just that... but in the character creation screen and the tailors, there is no place to add markings or hair styles other than the defaults that I saw.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you bought bridge officers, not the player race (probably because the OP opened with bridge officer customization ). My bad.

So, I am confused. Do you mean you cannot add the things that you unlock when you own both cat types, or are there new ones on boffs that players don't have?

last I checked, but will have to do it again when home... I created my Ferasan and at first didn't think of the markings... but then I was looking something up and realized I should be able to.. so I went to a tailor and then to the head section... and there's nothing there for markings.
I went and started creating a Fed Caitain and as I did realized there was nothing for markings there either... so I cancelled that creation.
either I'm missing something or it's not there.
Also, why can't Ferasan's have more colors than grey through black... oh well, black cats are cool
I have had this error pop up randomly for me in the past. Some BOFFs would have the markings option while others wouldn't.
NOTE: I do own playable Caitians and Ferasans.

I own both playable Caitian and Ferasan, so in theory I have access to all the cosmetic options.
I created a Ferasan recently as a Delta Recruit. At the time I created him, the Tailor showed a "Markings" setting where I could choose a pattern and color. Some time later, the "markings" color got fused into the "skin color" setting -- it showed two colors; the main fur color and the markings color. I could change the color of the markings, but not the design.
More recently, that seems to have corrected itself. I once again have a separate setting for Markings. Go figure.
Well, there are Purple/Very Rares in the C-Store and White/Common Intel ones from the BOFF vendor at ESD/First City.

only a couple more hours left of work...
then I'll go home and check to see if I can get the markings.
BTW, where do you get Caitain/Ferasan BOFF's? purchase? doff mission?
500 Z's for a C-store Caitian boff, you buy the 'token' on C-store, then go to the boff requisitions officer on dockside, and there's a tab for C-store purchases, you choose the speciality and gender you want and buy it with your requisition token.
You can also find them on the exchange, take a wheelbarrow full of 1000 cred bank notes with you, they cost 20 million or more.

Found!
I'm out on DS9 and the tailor there had the option "overall pattern" under the head customization.
I don't remember seeing that before... strange.
Just jumped back to First City and the tailor there.... the "overal pattern" option is there too.
went to start a new character... it's there too...
I'd swear it wasn't there before... but I'm probably just gone crazy...
Excellent!
No, you're not crazy. I've had the same experience before myself. Unless we're sharing the same dementia. LOL. I think that there's some sort of issue with the option dropping out every now and then. :-/
