[brainstorming] Help to improve/optimize this game even further.

plaztikman64plaztikman64 Member Posts: 725 Arc User
Right, I've had a few ideas and thought, well... why not try and make a thread about it, see what else there is, what could be added or improved for/to/in the game. Yes there are bugs, like... a lot, but please, don't bring this in here unless it adds to the discussion as such.

So, if you have anything to add in this regard, this is your thread. Keep it civil folks and let the brainstorming begin ;)

1. Add a window, an overview if you will, for all the timers & cooldowns, projects and what not.

2. Add another window (windows!!! ;)) like the transwarp one, but for the adventure zones, like nukara, defera, voth ground & space, the contested zone and kobali. I think, it would help get those more populated, as many people don't know about them or can't be bothered to even get there in the first place (assumtion).

I will try and update this thread as much as I can, and perhaps copy good idea into this post.

For the only way to improve...well actually safe this game -> see my signature.

When Holodeck is finally a working S1.2 shard, start adding:
    - leaderboard
    - matchmaking
    - spectator mode
    - new maps

When you buy lets say 462 white duty officers a day with fleet credits to fill a cycle of base xp projects to hurry your base to the finish line before grand master Geko issues in a fleet revamp people are surely going to love please give us the option to buy them with sliders like consumables instead of having to click at them… one … at … a … time…

    Yea that would be cool.

    Thank you.

    A few thoughts:

Ambient light slider so those that like how sector space is lit can keep it and those that think it too bright (or dark) can adjust it to their personal level of immersion.

Minor request for a bug fix. The login error that keeps popping up is genuinely frustrating and not experienced outside STO. So doubt it is me and the others experiencing the exact same issue. Five lockouts and many will just go play something else.

Noting how people ask about exploring new worlds, etc. Have some side quests into areas and have the terrain and aliens use the random map generator from CoH. You can keep the region themes. Alien race in borg zone has borg or undine issues. But the aliens themselves are random generated along with the terrain so no two 'explorer' missions is identical.

Make the ship docks around ESD also be entrances and exits from her. That way we can arrive and dock at one of the tertiary repair points and beam over to the station instead of just racing for the doors. On exit instead of everyone stacks up in one place. Shuttles appear near ESD and ships may be in one of those platforms. Just a crowding and immersion thing that might be fun. Not sure how hard it would be to implement.

    Fleets need a purpose.

Queues are nice for people who like group stuff but most people don't want to be forced to queue. Create more solo content or make the queues soloable. Yes make the grouped ones reward better.

    T5u's to t6's.
I know that cryptic wants us to buy new ships but my god the new ships are not what I want to play. They are not my style. Plus I don't trust cryptic to, if I buy another lockbox ship, they won't come out with t7's next week.
It took a lot to get the jhas on my dread. If I can't upgrade it (even the ridiculous way you have in neverwinter). Or the voth bulwark.

Buy specialization points in c store

Stop selling the old vet membership. Still support it and continue stipends. Make a new one and sell it for a few months for cash, not zen. And have another stipend in it.

Allow Feds to play kdf missions, group with kdf, and go to qu'nos after a rep grind for "diplomacy".
    Same goes for kdf.
"But but but..." You don't have to do it. Just like you don't have to do slot of things.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

    Some nice ideas already.

    - been reading in another thread about optimizing the way of filling projects. So basically, if you have everything needed, you start the project. No waste of time filling up bars or whatever. Just hit a button.

    - also, stackable white doffs for fleet projects

    - finishing all crafting projects with one button instead

    - or, just like with the reputation, why not have projects popping up for when I have the items ready to craft like, say... 50 or 500 or whatever superior upgrades

what a shocker, 0 pve suggestions rofl. (you should suggest things for both pve and pvp).

    - give players the chance to earn a bonus exp pool (double exp) in designated "rested" areas, so new romulus etc etc "homeworlds"

    - merged pve and pvp equipment and have them state seperately in the item description - what happens when in use in pve and seperately in pvp so that players better understand how the weapons, consoles and items work.

    - built tutorial for pve and pvp based on the basics.

    - update ship information (ship info window) to show how much DPS players are actually maxing out at with thier builds on their ships so they dont have to use 3rd party addons (perhaps rework all information regarding ships making information more clear to less informed players).

Okay, some suggestions for PvE aswell:

    - NPCs should have about the same HP as player ships, resulting in a nice sideeffect: you can balance for PvE and PvP at the same time.

    - NPCs should be able to use way more abilities (depending on difficulty):

    - normal: 4-5 abilities per NPC
    - no specific AI strats

    - advanced: up to 12 abilities
    - basic strats like cc and focused fire

    - elite: abilities equal to a player including captain abilities (alpha, subnuke, etc)
    - crossheals, syncronized alpha strikes, massiv cc (extracting weak targets, stunning healers)

    - Reduce the number of NPCs in general: Less, but more challenging and longer fights.

Not so much on the cross faction grouping on missions.

No, please, we like Qo'nos just the way it is. Keep the ESD trolls at ESD.

Buy Spec points in C-Store. That would be a fast cash grab, as well as a serious game imbalancer.

Que's I had made mention of in serval posts. The way to fix this is to use the reptutation system to its maximum potential, i.e. You can't que for elite stf's until tier 4 reputation. Adv is tier 2 and 3. Return to the old way of doing gear. Teir I is MkX gear, Teir II is MKXI gear, etc and you have to have the previous gear in order to the next Mk upgrade.

    For the Fleets.

A fleet pvp addition. Where fleets can attack each other starbases and such. You can leave the PvE que ones the way they are. Just add this to the PvP ques.

Sector Space Supply Runs. Running and defending a supply frieghter to point a to point b for your Starbase. Automatic PvP/NPC Raid flag. The NPC Raid flag just adds a % chance that NPC Raiders/Pirates attack your freighter.

Both of these can come with a Fleet Cooperation invite. This can also be done as distress calls. Instead of just responding to borg/elachi/tholian red alerts. You're responding to a faction red alert. I'd keep it the standard 5v5 at max 10v10.

    1) Can you explain how removing content that is 100% optional is improving this game in any way?

    2) PvP is almost dead anyway.

The thing is, Feds have more nice foundry missions. As a kdf who is willing to play the fed rules, I would like to play them with rolling a fed and flying around in an overpriced ship that looks like a duck.

On EVERY trek show you see; you ALWAYS see the captain asking for an ETA (estimated time of arival) to (whatever) destination.

Would be very nice for a little box in corner calculating this for you when you set a destination in space.

Would it be bad if vaping actually was balanced? If any outgoing dmg was balanced to player ship HP, I don't see a problem with that.

Another idea: Remove the xp grind.

I'd love to create a character that is already maxed out in lvl, rep, crafting and spec. We still need to grind for gear which is ok in my opinion, but grinding for xp is kinda stupid (especially if you consider how bad the lvl content is designed: worst railroading storytelling, personal desicions doesn't matter - you always end up in the same situation).

That of course is your opinion and you've got all the right to express yourself but please, there is no need to drag this thread yet into another pvp vs pve discussion, thank you.

And when you start the tour, you'll also hear a "make it so" or "engage" sound clip :P

Well for KDF it would be more of a "Do it, now." or "Go, before I kill you." kind of thing.

Hmmm... preset destinations. Not for transwarp. Just for sector space travels. You know for those places you go to the most.

Not that hard to do with the map. Just grid it out with X/Y and -X/-Y coordiantes. Well keep the astrometrics out of it. Cause then you have to add in Horizon.

So lets say a simple preset X/Y system of I dunno 10 different place.
