Gorn, bite attack.
Extremely plausible, if not, simply so.
But the lack of a savage claw attack is something that bothers me.
Overgrown lizards, wielding a waepon that virtually vanishes in those immense claws... looks silly.
And I'm not even speaking of pistol type weapons.
That these humongous beasts can even hold them, is beyond me.
Take a phaser.
If a Gorn "holds" it, it vanishes.
How can he, having claws like that, even push a trigger?
For one, a Gorn should be restricted in the use of fire arms.
Instead, he should have mauling attacks, and shredding attacks, like a REAL predator.
Which a Gorn basically is, or have I missed something?
Sure, a Gorn in close combat vs ranged weapons, can be annoying for a Gorn to get in close.
But these beasts are normally BLOODY resilient, giving some extra armor to compensate.
Think of Kirk trying to take down this monster: he had to make this cannon.
Kind of says enough.
Furthermore, this Gorn had no weapons.
Logically, a Gorn IS a weapon.
I for one love to see the Gorn more cannon, by adding these unarmed combat skills, and dropping the jab/punch attacks.
no decent Gorn would punch with hands like those!

Gorn are far more than savage predators. Yes, they're strong, and they know how to use their natural weapons, but they're also highly intelligent and do see the value of using firearms. There's a reason they provide the KDF with its Science Vessels.
That said though, I agree that Gorn characters should have a different set of melee combat abilities from the standard beat 'em up set that everyone else has. As for phasers and whatnot vanishing into their hands... I think that's more of a scaling issue with the weapon model itself.

You know, Gorn come in all different sizes. Some of which are closer to the average humanoid size. If you don't want weapons to look weird when given to them, make them a normal size.
Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!
Gorn are indeed highly intelligent, but their build does not require the use of firearms.
Let me again get to Kirk, he needed a frikken cannon to take our friend down.
They know this, they would use it, especially if the enemy dared closing in.
But no, they become boxers?
Aside, a weapon scaled to fit a Gorn hand, would be a mighty cannon by itself: like one cowboy using his colt 45, the Gorn a Taurus Raging Bull .50.
And that would still be quite small for the giant.
True, some seem smaller, but some are truly gigantic.
It's about the big ones that I am talking about.
they should have some limitations in weapon useage, and have different hand-to-hand skills...
I had hoped that in a hand to hand fight my Gorn would do something similar to what Ambassador S'taass did to that Jem'Hadar in Second Wave.... suffice it to say I was disappointed when he started throwing punches lol

YES!!!
THAT is the typical Gorn, not the kung-fu specialist, but the brute power "I'll tear you apart, limb from limb" beast.
All Gorn should be S'taass.
Masters of Gore.
If I had my way with the Gorn, the universe be littered with intestines, half open heads, torn/bitten of limbs...
Sadly the Gorn as are fit in with the muppets.
I prefer the Gorn from Enterprise rather then one from TOS. The TOS version was limited by '60s makeup and technology. It is like comparing '60s Andorians to Shran.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Well, why bring up the 60's cosmetics, it were the 60's.
You CANNOT compare that with any other (read: later) form of make-up.
The Gorn that Kirk had to cannon down looked beyond rediculous, but try to see through that.
Imagine that scene in a nowadays scene: a small T-Rex, just with a massive brain.
But STILL a T-Rex.
Phlox even said: they are like the Earth velociraptors, or something in that range.
Then MAKE them velociraptors.
True cold blooded shredding machines.
Cuz, THAT is the way they were intended.
THAT is canon.

With all due respect.
