Accusing people who are reporting little to no problems with lag of ignoring the issue is just as disingenuous. Being truthful about who is and isn't having problems, helps the devs discover patterns of when the problems occur and narrow down what's ultimately causing the problems.
Sorry if you interpreted that as being one sided. It wasn't my intention.
Bottom line: Connectivity is an issue with many games, but it's a consistent issue with Star Trek Online since the release of Delta Rising.
That, and many player have left. The good news - I've been promoted to fleet leader of a fully kitted fleet. The sad news is the people who I liked playing with have left.
I personally have been having this issue for a while now , its worse now , for me adleast then before . Here is what I came up with , been running a ping plotter for some time now and even contacted my ISP they ran some test s and said that cryptic s servers are having issues.
My guess is either server over load , or a memory leak somewhere . Or it could be out dated server hardware. I have read a lot of these posts over the years most ppl get blamed for all of the lag issues . I myself grows tired of replies from sto saying its not on our end.
P.s. I don't have any other issues with any other game I play just sto
Myself, I have no issues when doing solo things, missions, patrols, etc. It isn't until getting into a group activity like ISA, or any other stf that I see lag problems. Personally I think that with all the trait calculations whatever hardware they are using just can't keep up, and hearing accounts of people saying that they as a group deactivated "x" traits and things cleared up considerably just reinforces this thought. In my view they are in need of some serious hardware upgrades if they plan to solve this.
Solo play is fine, it's group play (stfs) that are very laggy.
We're talking full on serverside issues that translate in action delays and rubberbanding.
I usually only do ISA, CC, and the new iconian stfs now. Ground stf's are fine, it's the space stf's that show this behaviour. I'd say in my case there's rubberbanding and action delay issues around 75% of the time with peaks on weekends.
Its a world wide problem that has been going on for months affecting some and not others, my problems started 2nd week in Feb, no not maintenance day, but friends have been suffering with this since before Xmas. Many friends & fleet mates only log on to do doffing now.
SERVER NOT RESPONDING.
UNABLE TO LOG IN.
DISCONNECTIONS.
BANDING.
LAG.
Im suppose im lucky that i only suffer from banding & lag, annoying but playable most of the time.
The last 2 seasons have seen them remove game content before adding new, why, servers overloaded....?????
You're lucky if its just lag that you have to deal with. I can't even log in with one of my characters anymore because when I try the game instantly crashes. Glorious.
if you do ground missions like bug hunt elite/adv/normal you don't see 1/10th the lag as you do in space
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

It's been crazy laggy with extreme rubberbanding ever since the release of the latest season. I've had minor issues before, but nothing at all of the sort I am experiencing now.
Boff abilites being locked out even after they show ready status. Misfiring abilites, you press an ability and nothing happens but you get the cooldown anyway.
Extreme rubberbanding issues. No matter where I go or what I do, my ship jerks back and forth like a hare on illegal substances.
I don't know what goes on anymore. Seems like every season and patch brings more and more trouble.
The guy on the bike is the game engine. His cargo is the ever increasing number of abilities, traits, reputation systems, episodes, ships and so forth.
Their code dev team is really small (most dev team is assets such as sound and art). At some point (NOW!) they are going to have to dedicate an entire season to upgrading the engine code structure.
Lest ye risk a total database collapse on the server. Which is sort of happening already with the missing items in people's banks. Just imagine if after a new content patch the server crashes hard with people's ships, boffs, characters, item and what not disappearing in an ever escalating corrupting database.!

Which would explain why they keep removing game content,,,,,,,,,,,,,,over load...
Cooldowns not registering correctly - any time I find myself needing to activate a boff power which appears ready to use, I click it, and am given an additional 2-5 second cooldown (even if the power was ready for at least 5 seconds.) After this second cooldown is up, the power again becomes available, I click it, and it takes another 2-3 sec to activate.
i have sometimes this problem too. often, when a lot of skills are used at the same time (command skills, intel etc). this problem appears in ISA, Grethor (normal, advance), CCA
perhaps, that the engine can't handle all these skills at the same time
People are always so quick to assume that Cryptic is some apathetic, evil supervillain ignoring their cries for justice while twirling their mustaches, drinking the salty tears of their suffering.
It's too much to ask, naturally, that they consider what a tremendous amount of hard work goes into a -day- of running and maintainin an MMO at all, the timeframes and human resource availability, or you know, that these are just human beings running a business (not an evil act at all) and they can only afford to work so many 12 to 16 hour days to make you all happy.
Lighten up. They do what they can and they're not ignoring you. You can't see the other side of the screen, so assuming EVIL APATHETIC GREED TREACHERY from their every move is hilariously misinformed.
Give me just one , just one MMO forum that isn't plagued with howling, entitled fools.
All I know is ive never had lag minus the first week of Legacy of Romulus until now.
And it is mostly space missions, namely the queue ones. I believe it does have something to do with all the new powers/traits/whatever
It isn't a user issue on the whole. Sure im certain a lot of us could maybe upgrade our comps to the very newest shiniest graphics card and whatever,
but consider if I can run every mmo that's currently on the market in high settings with no issues(ff14, SWTOR, Secret World, World of Tanks) ..but sto a game that isn't nearly as new, something must be up other then just me. While graphics and engines are different for each game, I still have to believe it has something to do on Cryptics end more than the user end.

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.

To make it really simple to understand:
