Iv been Playing STO for aobut little over a year not and I have to say the ending of Season 9 and the start of Season 10 is the worst ever. I have never and I mean never had this many problems ever before. If you name the problem I have problely had it. The most reacent problem was Battle group Omagea problem could not find the jump gate to get there I went to where it was sopose to be on my Map adn guess what no gate. I can not even go on in the story line with out going to that battle group So I am stuck. This Season which I very much have been waitting for has turned out to be a big and I mean Big disappointment. Every turn problems nothing but problems. There are so many problems that is tures people off playing STO because it not worth the stress. And here I thought this War was going to be a good Season guess I was wrong.
never did i understand why they removed exploration clusters and how can someone be lost in it - i guess its because people like you.
season 10 is one of the best seasons.
This season wasn't bad, I finally got my fleet intel ships I've been waiting for since DR launched. That being said I'm still waiting for T6 pure science ships for Romulans and KDFs. I'm not starting an delta character till they come out and by then the delta character thing might be over or whatever.
We get it your a white knight for two nameless MMO's.
I've been around this game before it launched and was playing since closed beta 2009.
And we both know how easy it is to let others know which MMO's you are talking about without naming names. Like that game about hairy toed midgets and a one eyed god, or the one with energy swords and droids, or that fantasy game with the pandas
Facts are simply facts. Acknowledging that they exist doesn't mean you accept that them for quality or that things shouldn't be done to change them.
For example Smoking is bad for your health. That doesn't mean you should say "Oh well" and keep smoking.
I stand by the statement, have fun figuring out the game(s), and the publisher, I wont take the bait, they remain unnamed.[/quote}
I doubt anyone is going to waste any time trying to figure out the names of these nonexistant games.
Bull. Every real MMO in existence has players reporting bugs on their forums as well as in game. But you don't want people checking those games forums and seeing the bug complaints.
No it's at best your opinion.
And yet here you are proving you care enough to defend your post and pretending indifference with your "look at me and how much I don't care" declaration. :P
A person that truly didn't care would ignore the people that don't believe what he posts.
Lol, yea I know, I see mmo phds in zone chat all the time.
I have never been a white knight for anything, I just state facts, their are a lot of old guildies who have played with me for years that would die laughing at the mere suggestion I was any white knight.
I couldn't care less is also a fact, not a declaration by definition, if you see it that way, well, im right again, I just try and lend my years of age earned wisdom to people who haven't gotten that far yet, sometimes it's worth the effort, sometimes it isn't, sadly this seems to fit the latter category.
People join the MMO scene as new players every year, they get used to what the status quo on quality is now, not what used to be, if they don't care that's their prerogative.
Games will continue to be funded and succeed at average or below acceptable quality because people such as yourself will continue to white knight them as the norm.
Your a regular poster here, that certainly makes you feel as well as your being around since 2009 that you have me factually over some barrel, factually I know what I am talking about and you do not.
It's ok to be wrong sopwith, you started this exchange by challenging my statements with yours.
Your still wrong, not all games are riddled with bugs or commonly posted as having them as the norm, some of them are/have been polished such that bugs aren't noticed or even spoken of.
These new gamers I mentioned are introduced and conditioned to the present day f2p bug online atmosphere and simply don't know any better, and wont listen to people who do.
I have played two of those, apparently you have not.
Anyway it really doesn't matter, you have your Masters degree in MMO diploma on a wall somewhere, you know it all already, no one needs to tell you anything you don't already have nailed down.
TBH that looks to be an issue with your graphics settings to me. That looks way, way too dark compared to what I see. What do you have your gamma set to?
I have my ingame lighting set to 120% , which for example get's me :
My Gal-X with Venture (Type 6) skin -- in sector space and after zoning to DS9
My Gal-X (same ship) VS my Hirogen Apex (rusted skin)
... so you see , you can't claim that I have either uber high or uber low light settings in game . In fact I have my UI set to "Romulan Classic" (dark green) , as I do like subdued colors . However what the game does in sector space with ships that already have less then "Venture like" skins ...
I cant say its the worst season ever, but what I can say is how can you release a season with so many bugs, "Some" that were reported on tribble server before launch. That is dumb at its best
^^
This I agree with. Honestly with a 7 week event, I'll never understand Cryptic's mentality of "As long as it doesn't outright crash the server 100% - push it out in whatever state it's in and we'll fix it later..."
Yes, STO is an MMO and always in flux; but honestly the state of servers is the worst it's been since initial launch with LONG bouts of 'server not responding', or the launcher not loading. etc. Hell it got SO BAD yesterday, Trendy said even the Cryptic Network Engineers were thinking in could be a DDoS attack. (I don't think that turned out to be the case or someone in the media or at Cryptic would have commented by now.
I just find it amazing that PWE/Cryptic can't seem to keep a handle on proper load balancing or bandwidth provisioning to the point that "Hey if over 50% of the playerbase at the time can play (with lag) that fine" - and sorry that's how the response to the various network and server issues that have affected all three Cryptic MMOs of late comes across.
If this is how PWE runs their ship, NO WONDER profits are falling because I have to say, if I were a new player and experienced the issues I've seen over the past month, I wouldn't give Cryptic/PWE a dime because if I spend money, I expect to be able to PLAY the game WITHOUT constant networking issues multiple times a day Cryptic QA is substandard at best (and that's not to say the PEOPLE in the department aren't trying their best, but 5 people can only do so much; and I think the QA situation falls more in upper management's lap.) I don't think overall QA is seen as that important by Cryptic/PWE corporate either on the game client or Network side - and I come to that conclusion based on their response to issues, and the quick rate at which they push stuff Live regardless of feedback or major reported and repeatable bugs that to date Cryptic/PWE have rarely (and I'm saying one can probably count the instances of this on one hand) held back a patch in the 5 years of STO's existence and the 3 years Cryptic's been under PWE administration.

It is a misconception with regards to networking and the current login issues to compare a frequent problem that is affecting a large portion of our population (one that we are taking very seriously to try and resolve) and literally every game just became inaccessible due to a very obvious spike in traffic similar to what would be experienced in a DDoS.
While both issues affect players and our concerns, they are different. Please be mindful to not lumpsum.

Haha you think this is bad??!
Dude you shouldve been here for the launch of legacy of romulus which i aptly nicknamed Legacy of Bugulus it was rife with bugs that if the game was working at all.
But over time most of those bugs got cleaned up and LoR has went down in players opinion as one of the better expantions to date.
So dot get butthurt cause theres issues with the game it will get cleaned up over time as LoR has taught us .
If i have one complaint myself about this season its the LACK of content and i do mean utter leack...3 bloody missions....SERIOUSLY CRYPTIC??!! ...3?!
which season was it where the Borg spheres AI thought "hey we're being attacked, RETREAT! RETREAT TO HELMS DEEP" and essentially ran away whenever you attacked them ? season 8 wasnt it?

good times
the devs gave them a full power version of EptE and the AI couldn't figure out how to use it right. :P It didn't help that they would use it at random.
It made things frustrating because IIRC, the Nanite Spheres had it too, and thus would get to the gens and heal them almost as soon as they spawned.

It almost seems like they had the impulse capacitor rather than emergency power, because I remember watching one zoom away into the distance making a really slow turn. As if they had a nasty -turn penalty, just like the impulse capacitor provides.
Heh, that was funny for a while though. Frustrating, but funny. I'm glad that's gone.

really? they all seemed to run away into random directions when I did some runs in season 8 granted it was probably luck but yeah rarely failed the optional in advanced for that :P
it was freaking hilarious sometimes though because sometimes as the spheres try to run away they'd get caught in the gate mesh so they couldnt attack us or move haha by the time they ended up getting out we'd already destroyed the gate in conduit. was rather annoying though you try to kill them and they just keep running away, it was as if the spheres were trolling you lol

Boo hoo. 3 missions, 3 STFs, sector space revamp.
PvPers have gotten...wait for it...NOTHING for years.
Wow. That is a huge difference between the way I see it on two different PCs at my home. What kind of graphics card do you have?
A GTX 460 .
As to your previous request , I dug out the Gamma settings -- it seems like I have the factory settings on everything .
I would also point to how I saw ships in sector space before Season 10 (image below) VS how I see many post Season 10 (image on top) .
And lastly , in my previous post I added the image of a toon standing next to the exchange , so that you could see both how ground maps look like to me , and for you to imagine how much brighter my ground maps would get if I upped the brightness settings in space maps (I already have the game at 120% brigtness , as I said previously) .
I don't have any FED ships using the darker hull materials, but will try a test with them this evening and I'll try to post some photos here. I definitely don't see them anywhere near dark as that and I haven't futzed with gamma settings etc. since I installed STO.
That'll be interesting to see .
I'm also curious as to your in-game brightness setting , and also which skin you use on your ship(s) .
The brightest Fed skin that I know of is the Galaxy Venture's , and in the pre / post Season 10 pic I don't have a Galaxy there , so no milk white Venture skin is used in that pic .
Looking at those, it would make a big difference if they bumped up the running lights and added the glow from nacelles etc. to reflect off the hull.
To be honest , I'm not sure that that would be a good solution , for several reasons :
Many ships have different lighting set ups . Some have many , some have few , thus different ships would get different results .
Many players have many different systems ... -- which would translate to some players getting good lighting , and some not so good .
And lastly , I don't see Cryptic start to futz around with ... how many ships / variants do we have now ? I seem to remember Geko saying 130 ships , and over 400 variants / skins in total ?
All in all that's a huge work in and of itself ... , which makes futzing around with sector space brightness a much easier solution for Cryptic .
What that poses for them however is that they have to up the brightness of the suns along with the brightness of sector space , as they don't want the suns to come out too dull looking .
(they have already chosen some very pastelle / dull coloring for their suns as is ... , but that's another story ... )
... anyhow , Taco said that he'll be upping the sector space lighting a bit , but he wasn't sure when that will make it into the game ...
Comments
For me, it's the severe lack of content.
Still here
The start of closed beta, those were the days....
This season , it seems to be the ability to see & make out our 25-35$ ships .
... worst season ever ? Depends on how you look at it really . To some , it matters not . To me it's just more of the same ...
season 10 is one of the best seasons.
Two seasons out of ten...not sure if trolling or just stupid.
I have my ingame lighting set to 120% , which for example get's me :
My Gal-X with Venture (Type 6) skin -- in sector space and after zoning to DS9
My Gal-X (same ship) VS my Hirogen Apex (rusted skin)
A toon standing next to the exchange .
So far so good , right ?
Well if the Apex gave you a clue as to how dark skinned ships look , take a look how some ships with darker skins fare on those exact same settings :
My Nebula , BoP , KDF Time Ship
... so you see , you can't claim that I have either uber high or uber low light settings in game . In fact I have my UI set to "Romulan Classic" (dark green) , as I do like subdued colors . However what the game does in sector space with ships that already have less then "Venture like" skins ...

The rest was mostly system updates, and a few Klingon "mission"s. (really just a tutorial of sorts)

So last season basically?
Yeah, I was here in beta. Then left when it went live, came back at F2P, left again, came back again, left again and now here I am. Again.
It's a thing we have, this game and I. Nobody else truly understands.
But I can say, and do say, without hesitation, that this game is orders of magnitude better than it used to be. And it keeps getting better, too.
Now if they'd just introduce the Cardassians already.
EDIT: And I just noticed my join date says 2012. That really makes me wonder what account I was using back then.
